Title: Banham's MK5 Gee Tea Eye
Post by: Banham on June 02, 2012, 04:47:30 pm
Finally after having my Golf MK5 GT TDI for just over a year i managed to get myself a GTI. Only had it just over a month but have done a few mods and swapped over what was on my GT. Loving the GTI feels great to drive but the only thing that is going to take getting use to is the 320miles on the dash when im used to seeing 530  :sad1: but when my foot goes down all is forgotten

This is my old GT
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fbanaham49%2FGolf_GT%2FDSCF6276.jpg&hash=cf5b5788374f370d0a5b08c3f80eae6c6b8444c4)

The Current GTI spec:

18" BBS VZ
R32 Brakes Front and rear
Forge Twintake
RNS-510
Xenons with auto level
Headlight washers
Heated washer jets
Rear Footwell lights
Highline
MFSW
Magnet front licence plate
Smoked side repeaters
LED interior & exterior and a few other little mods.
Door Warning lights
Boot Pop

Currently modding my engine cover because it wont fit on with the twintake so going to hopfully spray that this weekend

After i come back off holiday i will be ordering a body kit and getting everything colour coded to tie it in nicely.

Here a few (Iphone) pics

Thanks, Think xenons go for 400-500+ depending on the condition. Not to sure about all the others but ebay will most prob be your best bet or keep an eye out in the for sale section  :happy2: Its a big job to  fit them as i found out at the weekend  :signLOL:

Cheers  :happy2: she has changed quite abit. Going to have a big change soon. As i have got a full body kit (rear, skirts, splitter) blueflame exhaust, coilovers, r32 rear lights and a few other mods aswell. After fitting xenons the cost is mounting up fast. She is running well havnt had a single problem (touch wood)

Hope you have settled in to you new house

The car has totally changed and for the better

Fitted:
Smoothed rear bumper, side skirts, front splitter, exhaust, coilovers, R32 rear lights

It still needs abit of tweaking to get it the way i want it to look. (exhaust tips higher, centre section of the splitter, front is higher than the back) but waiting for the coilovers to settle as they were only fitted yesterday.

Heres a few pics

Thanks  :happy2: The only thing i dont like about the side skirts is that they are abit lower than the splitter but its not enough to put me off lol. I got FK coilovers, Think i have about 10mm left on the front a quite abit on the back.

Nice!
Thinking of getting mine colour coded in October and getting a new splitter and I think this may well be the one! How much am I looking for one of them?

Also as a rough guide for me how much did it cost you in total as this is exactly what I want. I.e smooth tear r32 number and all coded?

Thanks

I paid about $400 by the time i paid for shipping and handling., But was worth it when it got delivered. Mine is the V4 version.

I brought the R32 bumper off a member on here and it was already smoothed so i just had to paint it. To get everything sprayed i paid £500. 450 was to spray and fit the bodykit and 50 was to get the exhaust fitted. But it was my mates dad who owns the bodyshop so he did it cheaper for me :innocent:

If you can wait im sure the bits you are after will come up for sale some where doubt the front splitter will tbh, So will be abit cheaper than buying brand new. I brought all mine new from germany apart from the rear bumper so would of paid abit more than waiting for bits to come up for sale

Liking this shot.. not too sure on the black inserts on the side skirt though. Looking great on the FKs. Are the VZ's OEM or reps? Looking to get some of these soon, look really neat.

Just a bit of a summer setup really.

Went to AKS Tuning on wednesday and got

Forge short shifter
Wheel alignment
Coilovers dropped back down
Front arches rolled
Also changed my Fuel pump cam follower as was slightly worn but just for that piece of mind.

Car feels so much tighter now when corning and changing gear. Just what the car needed after a remap. Cant thank Alex enough for putting time and effort in working on my car even getting a exhaust braket delivered that i didnt have. Highly recommend!  :happy2:

New wheels are on will prob get some pictures from the Pod on Sunday

How do you get away with with no front plate on after smothing the front bumper
Title: Re: Banham's MK5 Gee Tea Eye

I dont have one on mine but i have put magnets on the back of the grill then back on the reg plate with foam pads so they dont scratch the paintwork so i can take the plate off whenever.

But i dont have it on majority of the time its just in the window. I dont drive my car a lot and when i do its only 7 miles to my girlfriends house or gym so my car is never really seen by the police.

Pretty much what Nathangallo said, i have four magnets on mine and has only ever fell off once and that was because the snow pulled it off. I used to have mine in the window and put it back onthe front when it gets dark but now i just tend to leave it on unless im at a show

On your R32 rear valance, is there a heat diffuser/shield that sits in the rear of the valance? I ordered one last week, picked it up saturday and its a ma-hoosive box that I think sits around the rear box.... is not the word
