whoooo second topic already :) ...
is/are there any know issues with highish mileage GTi's, i've found an 06/56plate car on line with 53k on the clock which is above average for the year but i'm not opposed to them, unless that is there are know issues.

i would think that as long as its been maintained well it should be fine, if its got all the receipts and history tehn i dont see a problem
-
None that I am aware of, mine seams to get better and better with more miles, it's now on 36K and it's 11 months old :happy2:

The only real noise to listen out for is CV joints and wheels bearings, they're surprisingly common and not cheap on MK5s!
-
I wouldn't say thats a high miler..
It's only 20k a year. Average I'd say for a family hatchback that hasn't sat around like someone's garage jewellery!

I bought mine a year ago with 63k on an 05 plate, running absolutely fine with 83k on the clock now
The one thing I would listen out for is a rumbling from the rear tyres, its the one issue I have, I get an uneven wear pattern after a while which causes a rumbling around 70 - 80 mph. I usually swap them to front at this point till they need replacing. Probably not the best thing for them but I have been unable to sort the problem out, it could be the suspension set up.

i had rumbling from the rears on the diesel so can live with that, is there anything gearbox / engine wise ?

Wow, thats a refreshing change. Mine's almost 21 months old and I was getting down about it being high miles with 33k on the clock. Especially as I keep reading about peeps whose cars are 2-3 years old and haven't even reached 10k :rolleye: That was my original plan - to keep the mileage down - and parade it around the show circuit for the next couple of decades... I'll still do that, but it'll probably reach 100k a lot sooner than I imagine
