As a few of you are aware I was on the hunt at the beginning of the year for a CW R32. As the search was fruitless I decided to go for a different colour but stick with my plans for a different looking R32.
So a Reflex Silver 5 door (Had to give SWMBO a reason to let me have another Golf!) DSG was found and duly collected from Hadwins VW last month (Big thanks to me old pal Flora! :happy2:)
This is the car as she was during the first week or two:

Next was a cat back Milltek with Carbon ceramic black tips:
And a Euro .:R badge!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGreenouse%2FR32%2FP5110066.jpg&hash=78f491a987db8dff910496da2e4a8d65a964921c)
And of course I needed a trip to A1 to 'change' the style of the wheels from this:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGreenouse%2FR32%2FP4260067.jpg&hash=1803725ca6f00f8df490d29237f106952990a800)
To this, dark Anthracite with a polished lip:

Gotta say I was blown away with the finish and they have transformed the look of the car!
And last but not least was the work I've had done today. I was never happy with the silver on silver look at the front of the car. The brushed aluminium looks great on the Blue and Black cars but just looks lost on the silver. So after a recommendation from SteveP :happy2: I spoke with Alex @ Chameleon Graphics in Daventry who duly sourced the Black Carbon wrap I was after and I booked the car in for today. Several hours later this was the finished article and I have to say he's done an amazing job and even put up with my 'can you do this, can you do that' requests all day!

Looking good mate :happy2: My next vehicle of choice once the Ed30 has been payed off 8) Then i'll have a 30 and 32 for both garages
-
The wrap changes the whole look of the front, me likey lottsy. :happy2: The good point about the Carbon wrap is it can look shiny or mat depending on the light and with you covering a big surface the mat aspect keeps it from being to bling.
I think you have come up trumps with the rims as well. :drinking:

-
Update time:
Now after living with the Milltek for a few months I have come to the conclusion it just wasn't loud enough. I know a few that have been in the car have been a tad dissapointed (Flora) so after picking up a cheap s/h non-res pipe I an now a very happy boy!
So I thought the best way to portray the full evilness of this sound I'd do a few vids! You may also notice I have had my rear valance painted! :happy2:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi283.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FR32%2Fth_P7190013.jpg&hash=815b720aa1c28f63d98d5f7d1a946471ccdd9db6) (http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/Greenouse/R32/?action=view¤t=P7190013.flv)

Obviously had to stick to the legal limits so will try and get some higher speed footage from my private runway!
Oh also finally took the plunge and got myself an RNS510! :jumpmove: Fantastic bit of kit!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGreenouse%2FR32%2FP7180017.jpg&hash=4cc41027e4f9df899452ffc9966d4fc5b9e6ff93)

A few more of the new valance:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGreenouse%2FR32%2FP7180012.jpg&hash=587d4d978a688fac14549b716d8931689a2fbcc4)

Now I didn't plan on having this painted, I sent it off to the bodyshop to have the texture removed so I can get it CF wrapped but they didn't want to just leave it with primer on so stuck some paint on it so the moisture didn't get into it. Turns out they painted virtually the same colour as my wheels!!

Got to say Greenouse, your .:R is amazing. Looks really mean.
Your ED30 was a big factor in me deciding to get my GTI, really loved your wheels. And this new one has got me thinking again!! I've been dreaming of a silver R32 on black edition CH's for a while now and what you've done to your wheels might just push me over the edge!!
You really know your stuff and how to make a car look unique in a very understated way which is my kind of thing.

Should we be expecting an update this weekend mate?
Only ask as one of my mates is getting his Alfa 156 GTA wheels done by A1 down your neck of the woods and the guy there mentioned you'd been in today because my mate is getting his wheels done in a very similar way to yours on the R32.
The alfa wheels have a pronounced lip on which is going to be polished and the rest of the wheel done antracite.

No updates Im afraid, going to A1 in the morning now as I scraped one of my CH VZ's @ the Nurburgring and they are going to sort it for me! :happy2: Post some pics of your mates R when his wheels are done! :happy2:
-
Just me getting carried away!
My mate's R got stolen a few months back unfortunately. He replaced with an Alfa 156 GTA for the short term to absorb a bit of the financial hit that it caused him.
He's getting the Alfa teledials done in the same style, should look really good, will post pics once he's had it done. Think he's going in to a1 a week tomorrow.

Quick update:
After my Track session at Castle Combe last month it was more than obvious the car needed some help in the handling dept. I spoke to VWR and decided on the KW springs.
Not sure by how much they have dropped her but I'm pleased with the results. She seems far more sure footed through the bends with a lot less roll! :happy2:
For some odd reason the springs for the .:R come in yellow as aposed the the Racing Blue the rest of their kit comes in? :chicken:

I would invest in a Haldex Controller switchy thing before then too - The .:R handles much better if in Race mode on the 3-way switch.

Mike,
Difficult to say but I have some VZ's on my ED30 and that is lowered on Eibach springs. The only rubbing I got was a the Nurburgring whilst partaking in some spirited driving! :innocent:
So for everyday use you should be fine. :happy2:
Oh, and we want pics of the R on the VZ's please!

PM'd Manu

....
Nath, you can tuck up the screws in your wheel arch linings and also push up these linings. This has stopped any rubbing on mine in all 'spirited' driving conditions whether at The Ring or on twisties/roundabouts.
Obviously things like aftermarket anti-roll bars also help.
:happy2:

Yep aware of that but doesn't make any difference with the VZ as with the ET they have it's actually the bodywork/arch the tyre catches on :happy2:
-
^^^^
Ah well, if people will muck about with wheels with strange ET's and compromise their car's handling

Update: Had my Mechatronics unit replaced today and the car feels like brand new again! So if any DSG users are suffering from clunky changes from 1st - reverse or kangarooing at low speeds, get it into the dealer!

Mine was the same. Didn't realise it was buggered but mentioned it and they replaced it.
What is strange is mine is an ex-VW car so you would have thought they would have noticed it and fixed it. :sad1:

Love the 'R' part but if I'm honest I think the .: is too fussy. Would have been better either without the black centres or all blue .: plus black carbon R.
Just my honest opinion.
-
I have a set with the .: in Blue too. Thought these looked a bit more subtle but still highlighted the Blue acent nicely.
