Did anyone else get caught up in todays hail storm?
Thank the lord my car was in R-Techs workshop at the time but all of a sudden the heavens opened and golf ball size stones threw down.
Please bear in mind when watching these videos that the workshop was full and we were not just standing idly by not wanting to move the cars, there was simply no where indoors they could have gone.
First a bit of a heavy downpour with hail... I thought.. OK.. worth a video but it was nothing 'special'

Then we went back to work and all of a sudden BANG. it was like a billion golf balls landed at once. The first 10 seconds were the heaviest and by the time id got the camera it had died down but you can still see the size of the hail and how much is already on the floor.

The damage on the Evo8 roof afterwards :(

30+ dents in the roof. The poor Mk5 had dents on the roof, bonnet, A-Pillar.
Really feel for those whose cars were affected.

 I can't remember summer being like this....
-
Madness
-
to top it off i got home to cambridge and its 31 degrees and super humid!!
-
My evo only got 15 dents...lol and that was under a tree right next to my house. My car port at home is no longer a car port... :sad1:
Most of my mates cars lost windows, the old boy next door just been quoted £2500 to fix his Jaguar.
All customers cars got wounds some worse than others.
Epic day, I dont think we will see anything like that again in our life time.

I was flying most of today and when I landed, everyone was on Facebook going on about the thunder and torrential rain. Apparantly most people have got water ingress indoors so it must have been battering it down.
I do recall almost to the day last year that there was a downpour and a car outside the training centre I was at got struck by lightning.
-
Wow never seen something like this before! What car was affected the most from R-tech?
Black LCR which I sent out at 10am to have a bonnet wrap down the road
-
Jedi, as you clearly are one LUCKY man, was that you last night who won £750k?????????????????? :notworthy:

very lucky. id just come back in the workshop from a test drive. Id be devastated if it was my car :sad1:

I was working in Derby this morning and I've never seen lightning or heard thunder like it, in this country at least. It was enough to see me stopping work and retreating to the relative safety of the van. Steel mast erection in that kind of weather is asking for big trouble. At one point the thunder was directly overhead and the noise was incredible!

This picture looks like something from Independence Day the film.

That was what it was like near Notts today, without the white bit in the distance.

So sorry to hear this guys :sad1:
I'd be devastated to have my car subjected to that.
I got sat down on the plane from East Midlands to Rome at 7.15 this morning. I could see the darkness coming over from the window, but we didn't get any bad weather at all.
Landed at 11am to a shocking 34*C :scared:

Welcome to the Mediterranean Sea...

Sorry to hear about the mess.
I took the day off work to do some DIY. I work at MIRA, barely 5 mins up the A5 from R-Tech!
Was safely (just) on the drive in south Birmingham.

must have been so localised.

Think it was localised.
I'm the otherside of hinckley, nearer bruntingthorpe and we just got a ton of rain, with small hail stones, no massive hail stones thankfully
-
Nothing down here in Bedford. Just humid.
I would be gutted if the vRS got battered.
-
Wow, crazy weather. Feel for the people who's cars were damaged. Guess its something that can't be avoided tho
-
took this out bathroom window...heavy rain caused major floods... some cars got stranded and the water came over the roof.

..........love Rome.Went in march & it was 28* then.

If anyone's cars have been seriously damaged. PM me, I know a chap who is the last word in PDR, and does tonnes of work in Europe on hail damaged cars and vans.
:-)
-
We were hit quite badly at Melton Mowbray. A few mates have got broken windscreens, passenger windows and tailgate, one guy reckons his car is now a write off as it will cost too much to repair all the dents...
Thankfully at work they seemed to be a lot smaller than in the middle of town and the wind direction meant my car was protected against a building so quite lucky really :)

Was playing golf yesterday at Burghley Park (Stamford) and could see a large lightning storm going off in the distance, it never got nearer than 10 miles from us tho and the weather was sunny 32 deg and VERY humid (I went through 3 litres of water during that round of golf in 4hrs!!), got home to sunny norfolk at 7.30pm and it was still 28.5deg then.
Sorry to hear about damage to cars tho, what a PITA
