Anyone had anyone had some hands on experience with these yet?
Getting one for mine in the next month and was wondering what they were like. saw some at inters and they look a top bit of kit and well finished with the aluminium heat shield and 'stage 2' pipe.
-
I've been considering this for my mk6 for a while now
i will be very interested to see what you think of it.
is your car standard or mapped?
-
its not cheap but i dont think its quality can't be questioned. It uses OEM mounting points and fits in the bay really well.
Stage 1 revo map atm and going to stage 2 along with this induction kit and milly tbe  aiming to tip it over 300brake and better the 348lb/ft its at currently
-
I'm at stage 1 with miltek cat back
will most probably get a down pipe when i can be arsed.
i had an ITG intake but didn't like the sounds it made so removed it. it made more power though.
i will be interested to see what this piper cross one sounds like as its big factor in which intake i will fit.

What magic dyno is that on!?

Dyno dynamics @ corton miller, lincolnshire :innocent:

Do you have the print out fella. I wouldn't mind seeing this.
-
I do. I'll have to get some pics uploaded but I'm usually very poor at getting round to doing this so don't hold your breath.
This is on a mk6 btw which run a higher pressure fuel pump over the tfsi and a similar intercooler to the s3 but plastic end tanks rather than alloy
-
Hope this don,t end up in a figure shouting match..
My GTI with performance air filter , Miltek , and stage 1 hit 265bhp,, perhapes a little high, but it goes well :jumping:

I couldn't agree more andy. I'd be happy if my 'dyno readout' said 2bhp so long as it scares me out on the road

Don't think so unless you've changed it.

The Mk6 GTI has the same IC as later spec S3's Im told.
Awesome GTI sell the Pipercross filter . . . its not cheap. The stage 2 pipe seems not such a good design as others also. It appears to have a step down in diameter well before the turbo. Maybe they did this for a reason but the APR stg 2 pipe just looks a better design to me.
-
yeah but it has a silicon reducer instead.

Got the intake all in and fitted and... It's a beauty
Quality is really good with the genuine samco hose and aluminium pipe for the last section. All fitting well to the stock mounting points. But for the money you'd expect nothing less.
As for noise iv done approx. 50miles since it was fitted yesterday and can honestly only say I've heard induction noise 3-4 times when I was listening out for it which is suprising considering the size of it. Might have had something to do with the sound coming from the milltek though

Having swapped mine for an S3 cooler I can tell you it's not.
-
It's certainly a different/better spec than the older tfsi item then. If not a match to the s3

I swapped the cooler for S3 on both my TFSi and TSi and they are pretty much the same intercooler from what I could see. Certainly same thickness (or very similar) cores.
The S3 is thicker by some margin. 20mm springs to mind but I would have to measure it.

The UK Mk6 Golf GTI has the same IC as the GOLF R and later spec S3.
In other continents it does not.

My 2011 vRS, which has the same engine, had a different cooler

Maybe this is why the Golf is £4K more ?? :signLOL:
Just done a quick google search and its deffo not on the US spec MK6. I wish i knew how to add a link as i have found a great quote by "Bruce" stating the s3 cooler with plastic end tanks is actually more efficient than the alloy one !!

Cheeky fecker, they have the same cooler :P
Don't start that debate again ffs :rolleye:

:signLOL:Just to add fuel to the fire this is a copy and paste of Bruce's post on a US forum:
The Mk.VI Golf R FMIC with plastic endtanks is even more efficient than the old full alloy S3 FMIC.
Hard to believe but true. I was told by a mate working at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg where they did all
the testings. It's not only material and dimensions. The newer one has a better internal shape.

Awesome!!
Nice to know. Probably goes someway to explaining why stage 2 on a ko3 TSI is rather impressive. Mine dyno'd on Monday at over 300
