My car goes into VW on friday for a lube service. It is ment to have the pollen filter and air filter changed at the same time but seein as i have a uprated panel filter i decided againt spending the extra 90 pounds and do the pollen filter myself.
But on futher investigation they do a pollen filter and a carbon filter do i need both or just one as the look the same?
-
You just need one. IMO the carbon one is the one to get as it absorbs odours.
-
Are they in the same location ?, and how much ?, if there not alot of money just change both IMO

Thats the thing i dont know if they are both the samr filter or i need to replace both? If so where do the go?

Carbon filters are just uprated pollen filters. You don't need both.
The carbon in the filter catches odours, for the extra few quid its well worth it.

Cheers tom, Pretty much what it thought but thought i better check before ordering.

No worries!
I recommend Mann filters, they're OE on loads of cars and they come with fitting instructions. The part number is CUK2939/1 for RHD cars.
-
what is the part number for a carbon pollen filter and approx cost?
Would you buy from dealer or can you recomend a good supplier?
-
Use the Mann number above, and go to a motor factor/car parts shop like Euro Car Parts, Central Auto Supplies, Partco, etc etc. They may not sell Mann but they will supply you a version of it (and you probably won't get fitting instructions). If you want a carbon/charcoal one, make sure they supply you one.
They're normally around £10, the genuine one will be a few quid more.
