Just gave someone a jump start, noticed something odd. The cover for my oil cap has came off. The actual cap is still on and no oil is coming out its just the actual cover :surprised:
Any idea how this may of happened and has anyone else experienced this. The only reason I can see it coming off is my engine cover is a bit loose which may have gradually loosened it over time :fighting:
Thinking of getting an R8 cap now depending how much VW charge for one, some VAG parts seem to be pretty bad build quality :sad1:

Could be the upper engine mount and transmission mount are worn, causing excess engine twist,in turn pushing oil cap off?
-
You should be able to snap the two halves together providing there's no breakage of clips.
-
This happened to me but only with the R8 oil cap. From what I gather, it has to separated and reattached so it is correctly orientated when fitted.

U mean to remove and re-fit a new one. I was thinking a set of pliers

No idea where the other half of the cap is, must have fell off when i was driving. Think I'll need a set of pliers to remove it or just break it carefully :fighting:

It's quite easy to do this when removing the engine cover. Has it been in the garage recently?

Was in having 4 new tyres and upper mounts. May have been pulled off when mech tried to remove eng cover to check eng mounts :fighting: bit of a waste considering he told me mounts were fine and quite clearly aren't :signLOL:
