Hey
I have soem 18"alloys on my MK5 golf TDI, They came with low profile tyres is there any reason why I couldnt put proper tyres on it?
If I could what sort of tyres should I look at and roughly how much would they cost?
-
What exactly do you mean by "proper" tyres?
-
Sorry like not low profile! Its just where I live I seem to be able to feel every single lump and bump in the road!
-
I suggest you get rid of the 18's then and buy some 16's.
-
Thanks although I won't do that! So it is ok to put normal tyres on? or is it better with low profile?
-
Like the guy says The bigger the wheel the lower the profile of the tyre... so there is less side wall to absorb the bumps...
70 series tyres on 18" wheels  I'm not sure they are even available are they.... plus your speedo would be out by a week !!! never mind getting them under the arches....
-
Ill keep the 18" I just wanted to ask the question! So I need low profiles?
-
You cant put 'normal tyres' on your 18's could they wont fit in the wheel arches. need low profiles to stop any rubbing.
-
Yes you will need to stay with the profile of tyre you have as this keeps the rolling distance of the wheel correct... Maybe you should consider going to some 17" wheels if you want the ride comfort.
-
Thanks, Last question what fitment are the tyres?
-
I don't understand what you mean... do you mean the fitment of the wheel to the hub... if so it is 5x112 pcd
-
Tyres are 225/40/18
The rating for weight should be over 90 and also have the XL logo on them. :happy2:
