As title, have front grill and gills removed from my mkv R32 headlight is loose but still held in place somewhere. Removed the top torx screw and the headlight adjuster from behind the bumper. Where else are they held in place??

^^^ There are two screws under the headlight that you need to at least partially remove the bumper to get at :happy2:
-
yep, i would always take the bumper off when removing lights. it sounds daunting but its not that bad! ;)
-
apparently if you take the bumper mouldings out you can getto the 2 screws under the headlights? not tried this but seams feasable...

thats a good suggestion. its just a case of gettin the mouldings out without marking any of them

Thanks Guys :happy2:

Will have to try this as I think my passenger side lamp needs adjusting not looking forward to take the bumper off want to avoid that route?

I would like to adjust my headlights does anyone have any tips how to pop the mouldings out without damaging them.

As above, need to remove my headlights, the guide here http://volkswagen.msk.ru/electro/g5/g5_94_eng.pdf (http://volkswagen.msk.ru/electro/g5/g5_94_eng.pdf) says front bumper removal is not required just that trim strip. But I'll be darned if I can get it off!
Any ideas?

Everyone whose pics I've seen of headlamp swaps have had the front end off.

i did mine last week took me an hour and thats with swapping buldbs...the rub strips i on the front bumper i wrapped a cloth around a screw driver and from underneath just prised a gap and pulled them of with my finger..the botttom screw i undid and took it out with a magnet

the trickiest bit is getting the head light out and back in again..i did mine by lifting the left hand side and sliding it out...where the littlee torx screws go in thier is a 19mm plastic nut which you adjust to get the gap fight with your grill so it fits flush

Okay, so managed to get the bump strips off pretty easily using a screwdriver with gaffer tape around it to protect the paint (just a case of slowly teasing it out). However on the GTI it seems that this still will not allow access to the third and final screw on the headlight. This is beacause the bumper strip on the GTI is not as large as those on other models, and has the headlight washer meachanism to contend with. It seems to me that this is a mistake in the workshop manual, and that to get the headlights out will require front bumper removal.
I will check this tomo night and let ya'll know.
