Take off @ Doncaster
Stunning shots off Beachy Head
Wish I'd gone to Beachy Head but I was too busy manhandling sofas. :ashamed:
-
Looks fantastic
I'd have left the sofa by the side of the road if I'd known there was an opportunity to see it
-
-
awesome--which i had gone to see it at beachy head
-
WOOOOOOOWWWWWWWEEEEEYYYYYYY!!
That noise makes you shiver even on a video. :ashamed:
-
Why does it make that noise Ian... because it doesnt sound like concorde. Is it the intake shape?
-
These are the only engines that do it. XM 607 the 1st Falklands bomber had Olympus 301's which didn't it's only the 201's in the B2 shape like XH558 that howl.
As to why I haven't got a clue but when she does it sends a shiver down your spine. :ashamed:
Oh and they are completely different engines to Concorde. No reheat, etc but only just the same family. They tested Concordes engine design by strapping them into the bomb bays of Vulcans.
-
What an awesome plane - makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!!!!!!!!
-
That is indeed an absolute barstewards of a plane!
Hedge-did you fly Vulcans?? Just wonder why you're into them?

Wow! what a great sight of an iconic aircraft. Dam and Blast. I and my dad should have gone as great photo opportunities.

Was the old girl on the move today Mr H?
-
That, Mr Hedge, was money well spent getting those Evo's off you.
Amazing and feel I need to see this in my life.
Thankyou

Ian, what about organising a kind of meet and watch at one of them.
I certainly would be interested along with my Dad.

I did have thoughts about a meet at Wellesbourne Mountford as they have XM655 there which is accessible to the public.

I would definitely be up for that can we organise it?
Maybe get a list of who is interested?
I work a really crap shift that always falls on events but I am sure we can work something out.

She flew again today with her bucket and spade to the seaside.
-
^^^^ Against that backdrop you can see exactly how her flight seems so utterly effortless :notworthy:
She was so very far advanced for her time.
-
I think it puts it into perspective when you realise it was only 10 years or so between Lancaster and Vulcan. :surprised:
-
My Great Uncle was privileged to have flown Vulcans and Victors back in the 60's :happy2:
