Title: just had a r-tech remap
Post by: xjscx on August 14, 2012, 06:45:23 pm
Just got back from rtech, I got a stage2 map done on my ed30 dsg.

Car feels awesome now, very smooth and pulls all the way to the redline. Before the map the car made 248bhp with a Miltek TBE and ITG Intake after the map it made 318bhp

Very pleased with the map, well worth the 200 mile round trip  :happy2:

Fortunately/unfortunately, I will be going bak a 3rd time, long story, but my car will be in safe hands with Nick and co, they know their stuff alright!!

gigolo456 and dan930 got exact same issue with hardware.......  @gigolo456  Dan930 is the guy with the same exhaust and the one who had the rubber pipes from the power valve pop off.  @Dan930 give me a call or text on my mobile I have spoken to the exhaust company who are going to produce a relocation kit £FOC, fingers crossed I can give you your boost back and make gigolo456 a little more power.... :happy2:

@xjscx  Thank you for your custom today, it was nice to meet you. I am glad you got home safe and sound, and by the sounds of it you had a fun drive home with all you extra power..lol

If you decide to go HPFP and wanting more power then we can sort the mapping and do a full DSG map setup to how you want it.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Nick

Dan, they apparently are going to notify all Powervalve owners and send out the kit to yr home address, or wherever you want it sending to!?

You had the same problem as I???the silicone pipe came off a few times when nick had it on there dyno for the custom mapping...it also came off when i was about 20miles from home...the car had no boost..

Hi Dan, I dont know the specifics as such with yr issue, all I know really is that there clearly is a relocation issue with 1 of the connections that apparently will affect boost..

I think nick said the boost isn't stable so it's hard to map..a issue with how the silicone pipe is located & the silicone pipe fell off during mapping on the dyno

Dan, yes, all to do with the location of this silicon hose I think, although way above my head, lol! U mite want to contact Dave at BCS, see exactly what he says, but note he is now aware of this issue as Nick suggested...

I called Dave this morning & he is sending out the relocation kits as soon as he gets them in..he will also supply a connector as our silicone pipe won't be long enough to connect to the top of the engine

Thats wat im thinking! As it stands, im loving the power from the Stage 2 and the Powervalve, so any improvement on this will only have me frothing, lol!!!

I had the powervalve fitted on the 7th aug (early in the morning) up at haydock, then went straight down to R-tech for the mapping...nick suggested I take a test drive after the mapping..what can I say..it's like the car is on steroids...F##king mental....all was happy with a big grin on my face until I had about 20miles from home & no boost..called r-tech straight away and there told me to go bk but it was too late so I ended up going bk on the 9th and we found that the silicone pipe has come off from the bk box..

it's hard to explain mate...didn't you see your powervalve getting fitted at bcs??nick fitted a jubilee clip to secure it in the end..

Dan, to be honest, no, i left the car with Dave, then went into town for a few hours, then came back and drove off so-to-speak! Even after Nick fitted this clip, did the hose then come off again??

I totally forgot what nick told me,at the back of my head I think it's around 295-305lbft.... & how much bhp&lbft u running mate?
Title: Re: just had a r-tech remap
Post by: gigolo456 on August 17, 2012, 03:29:50 pm
257 bhp, and 301 lbs torque. With yr Ed 30, id expect yr torque, once sorted, to be higer than that! :-o

Thats one reason why i steered away from the power valve and had a straight through BCS 3inch tbe fitted to my car. Simple is simple does! If I hadnt already got a Shark map on my car I would have gone to Rtech.
Title: Re: just had a r-tech remap
Post by: gigolo456 on August 21, 2012, 11:27:25 pm
Sorry to ask but what exactly do you mean by 'thats why I steered away from the Powervalve'?
Title: Re: just had a r-tech remap
Post by: 56OctyVRS on August 22, 2012, 09:05:04 am
I always think when you have fancy valves there is more to go wrong with them. I can see the point behind them as people want a noisy exhaust all the time. But the BCS systems as standard arent really that noisy off boost or indeed on boost.
Title: Re: just had a r-tech remap
Post by: Tamiyoman on August 22, 2012, 09:20:13 am
As I replied to a few other BCS Powervalve owners  in PM's, mine was the first one fitted ( :P) and yes my Pipe did come off, the pipe was clipped onto underside of car and then a Jubilee clip added to hold it on, it has not come off since (touch wood).

My ED30 has a Jabba stg 2 Map and made 316hp and 342lb/ft, it made 297bhp at R-Tech on a scorching hot day (in the mid 80's) and the Powervalve pipe had come off, it then went back to Jabba for tuning for DSG remap (R-tech) and it made better figures, but fuel pump was holding it back to that

You won't be in limp mode, unless you thrash it 100% of the time and drive with windows open or stereo on you might not notice immediately (took me 3 days to realise), the pipe that came off (sure I already answered this in PM to you tho) is the one at the back that attaches to rear silencor where the powervalve is located  :happy2:

It is the take off at the Turbo end, its a new take off using an existing VAG Vacuum pipe from what Dave told me, it will also include instructions and a blank off plug for old take off I was told.

Not sure why you should get annoyed?  , your getting it for free bud  :happy2:.

I am pretty sure the updated pipe does not grow on a tree in the bottom of Dave's garden , in fact  I am told Forge are making it so he can only give info based on what they tell him, if delayed it will be forge for you to shout at

Just chill, wait for it to arrive (patiently like myself  ) and once it's arrived get it fitted, if that means re-arranging a booking im sure Nick @ R-tech can accommodate you, job done, everyone relax!

I perhaps should have chosen an alternative word to 'annoyed', maybe more 'concerned', is that ok for you??? I appreciate these are foc, and there are numerous reasons why this is the case, but, again, thank you for pulling me up on this bud!! All I ever want is accurate information, and if im giving personal assurance that something will arrive on time, then I expect that to happen. At the end of the day I just dont want to mess anyone around!

I learned never to "expect" anything, if you don't Expect it to happen then you will not be dissapointed when it does not happen  :happy2:

Relying on info provided 3rd hand is never a good idea, bottom line your relying on Dave, Dave is relying on Forge who in turn are relying on the courier and suppliers  :signLOL:

Yes, i do appreciate your comments but it's the business world we live i'm afraid. It's the Buyer within me that comes out in instances such as this... :indifferent:

I sell stuff (lots) on Ebay and am used to delays, problems and stupid questions from buyers.

E.g.

Picture shows a clear bodyshell and nothing else in picture, description states clearly clear bodyshell only NO other parts included and you get questions like:-

Is it painted?
does it come with paint?
does it include stickers?

Buyer from Switzerland buys item on 10th, he pays on 14th, you mark it shipped on 15th, he then emails on 16th asking why his item has not arrived   :stupid: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Do that for a week or two and you get de-sensitised to delays/issues  :signLOL:

Being a seller I know how it works, as a buyer I just wait for things to arrive

Yeap, fully agree mate, and if both parties are 'private' individuals, this is part and parcel of home buying/selling, but when one is buying from a company, yes, I do expect a certain level of service! To be fair, I have been extremely impressed by their service thus far, and, my threads/comments have sung their praises to the enth degree repeatedly; I guess im just a 'tell it as it is' kind of bloke! Anyway, ive now had to reschedule R Tech for a couple of weeks time (for another reason), so panic over for now!! :-o

you see, that's what i mean, the ETA changes by the day, all i ever ask for is consistency. I mean, if somebody turned around and said there is a chance that it might take a couple of weeks, i'd take that and work around it; i'd rather have that than false hope tbh!  :sad1:

Here's a tip, whatever time frame someone tells you add a week to it  :signLOL:

ETA will change for end user when manufacturer and dealer are sending onto you, things change, don't worry about it, I am sure you can live without the 6 or 7hp for a few weeks more  :signLOL: :signLOL:

that's where we differ mate, lol!! I'm a business man and IF i inform a customer of a due date, i go out of my way to ensure that the goods arive on or before that date!! I hear what you're saying about waiting a few more days for a few extra bhp, but it's the principle of the matter my friend. That's where a lot of us Brits fall down sometimes; i'm speaking generically when i say that too often when we pay good money out, we sit back and accept a standard of service that is below par. I for one am not one of these people!!

We clearly have different views on this, so probably best we agree to disagree and await our extra '6 or 7 bhp in our own ways'!!  :P

that's where we differ mate, lol!! Not that different, I am a business owner myself, if I am relying on something coming into stock from a supplier to send onto a customer I dont give a date to customer, only date I will give is .. You will have it within 2-3 days of the date I receive it  :happy2:

Yes I generally accept delays as part of normal life, especially when dealing with suppliers and customs delays.

Mines been turned down in power by r-tech..it was in the region of 320-330bhp but nick turned it down to around just over 300bhp

Jabba kept mine at 316bhp, fuel was more an issue rather than boost

why did he turn it down?

Because the boost was in-steady due to the connection of the silicone pipe.

Tbh I dont expect that much difference in terms of performance, perhaps as u say another 7 r 8 bhp or so, but wat I think it will affect is how the powervalve operates and when it opens and closes, so I mite expect my dyno graph to be a bit steeper, but with same end figure(ish), but i/we may b pleasantly surprised!?

Can't wait to get it fitted..might be switching tuner as r-tech is too far & jkm is only 30miles away
135miles vs 30miles...Don't get me wrong,r-tech are really good but every time I go there I have to lie to the misses etc etc..with jkm,I can drop the car there & use there courtesy car & go bk to work..really don't want to but not much choice at the moment...

Was jus kidding when I was on about 6 or 7hp, I dont think it makes much diff to peak power (which is not what a lot of folk want anyway), just a nice amount of boost with a nice torque curve.

R-tech are good guys and it was a 2.5hr drive for me to get to them but worth it, unfortunately now I moved 400 miles south west (to Very Cherry's neck o't woods) it's unlikely I will be able to go back there soon.

I will likely be going back to Jabbasport next year when I get them to remap the car to Stage 2+ (S3 alloy intercooler and Autotech internals will likely be fitted)

R-tech are VERY good but I keep telling lies to the misses etc etc..eg I run a chippy & last time I told the misses the cooker is being serviced but in reality I was in Leicester getting the car mapped..

Nah, never gonna happen, the grief, stares, sex-ban and emotional guilt trip she will offer up ain't worth it  :signLOL: :signLOL:

Tell her your going to look at a new Range from a new supplier!, there you go another excuse!

Your car is in for diagnostics as it has developed fault, another one.

Hey mate, what's the score with the tamiya rc cars ??i used to love them..had quite a few bk in the good old days

Tamiya have already or plan to re-release most of them  :happy2:, That's great news for the 30-40 somethings to relive their youth but not so great for the serious collector of the old "Vintage" versions (I don't collect them anymore myself, sold all mine 5.5 years ago and bought a GTI 1.8T with the money, it was getting silly having 35+ RC cars in my basement :happy2:). At one point between Tamiya and Kyosho I had over 60 RC buggies  :surprised:, I have 2 left now!.

Both of my first Tamiya RC cars have been re-released in one form or another, Sand Scorcher and Terra Scorcher (Thundershot/Firedragon).

I sold all my more expensive RC cars to collectors who would appreciate them and put them in glass cabinets rather than shove £250 of brushless motor and Lipo pack in them and thrash them to within and inch of their life.

I collected mostly Avante's (Vanquish x 3, Avante x 8, Egress x 5 and Avante 2001 x 2) and Top Force Evolution's x 17, I did have a soft spot for them  :signLOL:  :signLOL: :signLOL:

They all got sold and bought me a car and 3 Snowboarding holidays  :signLOL: :signLOL:

Still have a few RC planes in storage (not used for 2 years) including a brushless powered beast that does over 150mph  :surprised: (one of the lads timed it with a radar gun it was 10ft off the ground running parrallel to us at the time  :scared:) it's a nightmare to fly coz it's so small, it gets out of sight quickly at that speed!. I much prefer flying the 3D plane (Precision Aerobatics Addiction 3D), great for prop hanging and flicking around, tail dragging etc, good fun and not fast!

I've had quite a few too,astute,grasshopper2,falcon,bigwig,Porsche959,lunchbox,hotshot2,kyosho burns,inferno,ff maxxus,
the grasshopper2 goes like stink with a uprated motor...I brought a traxxas nitro 2years ago..it's bloody we'll quick..too quick actually..need well smooth roads to run it...i remember me & my mates buying loads of 7.2v batteries cos they run out well quick..

Still have A kyosho Rocky and 2 Maxxum FF's New in box (unbuilt kits), they are in my loft , I have some others too but holding onto them for a while.

I had an FG MT5 truck a few years back (1/5th scale), imported a racing 29cc ported engine from USA and put a 2 speed gearbox on it, got one of the lads with a radar gun to clock it on the beach at low tide and it was doing 60mph before it changed up to 2nd gear, it maxed out at 92mph, ordered some higher gears for it (for a laugh) and we got 106mph out of it, used to hit a pebble at that speed and it cartwheeled about 18 times  :signLOL:
Title: Re: just had an r-tech remap/tweaking
Post by: gigolo456 on September 18, 2012, 07:00:13 pm
Just had a tweaking from Nick and Jim, the smile on my face is huge! :-D
In all seriousness now, had another session on the dyno today down at R Tech! Jim kindly fitted the BCS relocation kit, and Powerflex Engine Mount insert and my GTi is running better than ever! To quote Nick, my car is running a bit better now than what he would expect from a Stage 1.5! My bhp is up from 256 to 270 (final run) and torque (lbs) from 301 to 331!
Now, whilst the cooler weather perhaps contributed a bit, those hands of Nick and Jim have special powers, they have magic in em!! It seems adjusting the Actuator helps too, lol! Id post my dyno graphs if I bloody new how!! :-S
Stopping modding now! :-D

Mine being K04 may be different, will see/feel what diff it makes when I get it fitted in a few weeks, RR day at JKM is coming up next month so am aiming to get it done before then, but wont have time to get back to Jabba for tweaks before then tho, that wont be until xmas (sorry peeps i mentioned xmas and its mid september!)
