I have noticed that when I start to brake I hear a clunk from the brakes. It's when I first start to push down on the pedal. not too sure if its just one of the wheels but it sounds like it.
This has been happening for the past few weeks. Now when I break it does the clunk and then as im continually braking to slow down, I hear a slight clunk with every revolution of the wheel.
Does anyone know what this could be at all?
Thanks

COuld be a few things, either the pads are moving in side the carrier or their is some thing loose

I don't think I'd go any further till its been checked out!
I had the same and the caliper bolts were real loose :surprised:
Sounds like the same thing to me. Only 2 bolts to tighten

The problem is I don't have the tool to tighten them. Do you think a garage would charge much to look at it for me?
-
They shouldn't do... Also check you subframe bolts...

Took the car to F1 Auto Centres in Leicester and they looked at the brakes and said they couldn't find anything wrong. They said there was a bit more movement in the caliper than there should be and said the first thing I need to try is a set of new brake pads and fitting kit with them tensioner things. i did mention though all the possiblities that you guys mentioned on here but they didn't seem to think it was any of them problems.
Not too sure if new pads is gonna help though?

Does it do it when you move forward, then stick it reverse and move back and it does it again? If so it could just be that the pad has a little movement and nothing to worry about. I have had this on a few VAG cars, sometimes aftermarket pads can be a little loose.

Hmmm I'm not too sure. I will have to try it in reverse later.
If I am going forward and I tap the brake, it clunks. Then if I tap them again still going forward it clunks again.

As for when I'm braking to come to a stop, with each revolution of the wheel I get a squeaking sound. Similar to that to of a couple having it off on a bed and u can hear the bed springs pmsl! Minus the other sounds lol!
