Title: Can i ??
Post by: stevw1 on August 27, 2012, 02:34:20 pm
I have a 140 GT TDI BKD engine that is using water with no leaks (to my knowledge)
I know the early engines had problems with porous heads, and do tend to use a little, it seems i am topping up every couple of days, particularly after motorway driving.
Is there a cure for this issue ? or Can i get the head from a later model that did not have this issue and change it over.

Help and advice most very welcome, particularly if anyone has done this  :happy2:

Try and get the head from a 170 Ste you'll be fine then...they are the same head but just sorted from the porous problems,

If you speak to Scott @ DarkSide he may still have the brand new head that I bought from them not cheap has it had just been cast and shipped from Spain, but you could have a word with him, Steph or Ryan :happy2:

Hi Darren,
Spoke to Ryan at Darkside this morning. He advised me to EGR delete first to cure another known problem with the BKD. See how it goes from there.

Thanks Steve

Best to do both at the same time tbh.  Only pic I have is with all the parts layed out infront of the car.  Bit of a pain to do tbh.  You will also need to link two small water hoses together.
