Title: Pistonheads and Autotrader
Post by: skilab on September 01, 2012, 09:41:57 pm
I have advertised my Golf on Pistonheads as it is only ten notes.  My question is - is it worth me putting it on Autotrader too?

Thanks

I know it is more expensive but Autotrader gets the phone ringing, in my experiences of car selling.

Also whack it on Gumtree. Free and worth putting it out there.

If you want to sell a car it has to be on Autotrader.

PH is ok for performance and modded cars but the Trader is still the Daddy!  :happy2:

What about eBay? I have no personnal experience of buying or selling a car there but my Brother In Law sold his last 2 cars through their site (both were also being advertised on PH and AT at the time). I've no idea how much they charge though. The more places you advertise your car for sale the better, IMO.

Put it every place you can , the more the merrier. Have liked the Ebay experience and you can post better photos of your car on there too . Sold a Z1000 on Ebay due to this , the man drove 150 miles to pick it up without seeing it in the flesh  :happy2:

I used to look at piston heads all the  time when looking for a car but since they have stopped doing free ads I find everything on there is overpriced so stopped looking on there.

Autotrader is where I will look first for a car then eBay or gumtree

Sold My MK4 1.8T on Ebay within 3 days of listing it (guy came 300 mile round trip to collect it), it was on pistonheads and gumtree previosuly and all I got was Scammers (lots of them) and chancers/traders offering half my already low sales price.

From past experience when I have sold cars its always been on autotrader. Sold my Golf within 24 hours and my Astra within 3 days.

I tend to price it at 1/200 over than what im willing to take for it so it's usually the cheapest and first that will come up in their search.

I know you have already placed your auto trader advert but in my experience my last three cars have all sold through an eBay classified advert. In all three cases autotrader brought nothing but dreamers and time wasters!
Depending on how quick you want to sell might be worth sticking it on eBay as well?

Best of luck with the sale  :happy2:

Thanks.  How much is an eBay classified ad?

I had my 123d on autotrader for about 5 weeks and only got calls from traders offering me stupid prices. Stuck it on ebay and it sold within 2 days!

So...I'd say just put it on as many places as you can from the start! :)
