Title: Milltek Exhausts
Post by: big al on June 08, 2009, 03:52:53 pm
Hi guys,
Got on to awesome the other day and asked about this exhaust set
http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=11037&xSec=152
They have offered me free fitting and 10% off, have any of you guys got this exhaust, how do you notice the difference, is it worth the extra cash, any pics? and finally, is this a good price for it, or can I find cheaper?
Thanks for any advice.
Al

Not sure about the price but it looks ok to me. As for would I recommend.....ABSOLUTELY you will not regret it! :happy2:
You will instantly notice more burble from your exhaust when you are pushing on but round town its quiet as mouse. Have you thought about the downpipe and sports cat?

Roadrunner are on Ebay too but not sure if they fit them. The downpipe will totally transform the car again, is your car mapped yet?

Hi Al,

Since you've got the standard GTI (i.e. not the ED30) it would be this exhaust and not the one you've linked to.

Good news : It's a bit cheaper :D

Oh.. and I can totally vouch for it being an excellent piece of kit.  :happy2:

I have the GTI Milltek and would advise you to go with the Ed30 back box as its much better IMHO! :happy2: The GTI Milltek comes with bolt on exhaust tips whereas the Ed30 one comes with them as part of the assembly and they have a bigger bore!

Is that 10% off the list price?
thanks all for your replies, just looking at cash now, and hoping that when I go and pick up some alloys next week I can combine it and get a new exhaust done.
(maybe a remap some time in the future!!!)

We do 10% off Milltek`s retail prioce
We usually do that anyway
The free fitting is great just now as that can save quite a bit on the turbo back exhausts ;)

....There are reasons why Milltek use different bore sizes - It's not just about sound. But then, some people lower their car just for looks too.

I'm about to post a review of my pre-production Milltek system - The tips are no longer bolted on.

What I was eluding to RR was that aesthetically the Ed30 is more pleasing than the GTI tail pipe! :happy2:

Don't knock bolt ons - they're a doddle to remove and polish.... not that I do it as often as required.

they arent bolt ons anymore.

Mine's is a 2.75" system all the way through with a twin 76.2mm tailpipe style.

Yeh Im sure they can swap the pipes for you. They were going to do that on the R for me until they decided it would be easier to build them to spec as they were having a build run that week.
