As above... has anyone had a set of these down to the 1.6mm tread markers? Mine seems to have gone 'off' a little, 2nd gear was spinning a lot more in the dry the other day.
Could it be because its getting colder now?
Thoughts please.

I noticed the same funnily enough. Usually 2nd gear with the LSD diff is good for very little wheel spin, since it has got colder it easily lights the fronts up in 2nd now. I have about 6mm of tread left so it may be more weather than anything else. The tyres will go off though as the tread comes close to the wear bars.

Having the same with my SC5's, swapped the fronts over with the rears as they have a little more tread, seemed to improve a bit, could be down to the colder air, more power, colder tyres...
The Conti Sport Contact 5's sure do wear down quick... :scared:

.
All the tyre manufacturers and road safety bodies tell us that the less tread, the less grip, and especially in wet conditions.
Down here on the south coast it's certainly not cold enough yet to be a factor. We haven't even had an overnight frost yet.
I've never ran any tyres down below 2 mm but definitely have noticed a slight increase in wheelspin tendencies on GY Asymm 1's as tread depth reduces and I try to adjust my driving accordingly although the ESP system and Quaife seem to kill wheelspin very quickly.

....But you faithfully promised Stick Vicky Butler-Henderson that you would take her strong advice and always have deeper treads on your rear tyres than your fronts!
Only move your rear axle tyres to the front when you are ready to buy a new pair.

How much miles did you get out of them ?
Over the last few years i think the contis have been my favs, not used the CS 5 yet though, the 3s are a very good tyre !
Im just gutted you cant buy the supersports in mk5 sizes/ratings
Also how much miles did you get out the f1s

10 months and they are down to 4mm and 3mm... but that equates to roughly 16000miles, so suppose it isn' that bad, esepcially with 300+bhp through front wheels... I still fancy some parada spec 2's...
... but will probably go with Asy2's next. :signLOL:
-
... as a little side note.
Lateral grip still seems good even in the wet. Maybe there was something on the road which made it slippy.

ah not bad then. 17000 miles is approx 2 years for me.

....I find that the GY Asymm's are very good indeed in the wet :happy2:

They're supposed to be pretty good all round, and wear rates are better than the Conti's... have been impressed with them, but will go Goodyear next me thinks...

with lower temperature the grip will always be worse regardless of tires wear....I noticed this as well. I had conti sports 3 and they lasted 10000 miles including 1 track day.... At some stage when fronts were 5 mm I notcied the grip was worse and once swapped with rears at 10 mm it was much improved.
