Seems like I always have the worst luck with cars.
1st car. Granted it was french but still at just 3 years old it seemed to be ready for the scrappers traded that in for the Astra.
2nd Car. Again Vauxhall dont seem too popular on this site and rightly so, it was in the dealers every other week and still persisted with problems approaching 3 years so it seemed sensible to trade it in for the current car.
3rd car. Edition 30
Problems:
New engine at 4 months old and 4000 miles. First day I got it back it went into limp mode. Fantastic. All was fine up until about a month or so ago and the fan began to kick in all the time and the A/C was no longer blowing cold and also the centre caps seemed to have the dreaded worming effect.
Got the car back and it developed a loud whining noise and constantly judders and vibrates aswel as the fan still kicking in all the time. Apparently the small fan was replaced although I thought the smaller fan and bigger fan were 1 piece?
The fan still persists to kick in all the time and it has to go back in for a further 2 days for some motor stripping down and rebuilding
Something in the suspension was replaced A arm or something??
It really is not a pleasure to drive at the minute and I just become really stressed at the thought of driving it.
/rant over.
P.S what courtesy cars do you get if you take yours to VW and do you have to pay £10.95 insurance for the day?
Steve.

Dunno bout all the other stuff but when I took my car in for its first service, I got a Golf Match 1.something Diesel. A mate got 1 litre Polo. Depends on what they have available at the time. Didn't have to pay insurance but reckon they factored it into the servicing cost as it was a tad higher than it should have been.
-
You don't have much luck mate. :surprised:
The juddering isn't to do with the wheels not being balanced correctly? It's amazing what an affect it has on the car.
-
Not sure...I will see what they say a week on Thursday when I get it back and see if it stops. Not happy about paying for insurance when its a warranty issue though.
-
Payment for there insurance could be due to you'r age ??????.Are you under 25 ?.
-
Sorry to hear about your problems dude.
I get a little 1.2 Polo whenever I take my car in :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy:
I think it's down to your individual dealer and what they have chosen as their courtesy cars!
-
Sorry to hear about your problems dude! Just be glad its under warranty :happy2:
-
aye.. i had a 1.2 when my golf was in paid about the same for insurance too but i was 19
-
You will be lucky to anything at the moment, as vw dealers dont have as many group stock cars to hand out,due to the Car shortage from Vw production line has been slashed. So if it has 4 wheels and a steering wheel, count yourself lucky!

23, but they never used to charge, just brought it in recently at there new site. Damn the credit crunch.

I had the same problem recently when I went to try and test drive the MK6 GTI. I had bought the ED30 brand new from the same garage in January of last year, I had no problems test driving a GTI then. I tried to book a test drive in the MK6 and they asked how old I was, 21, I replied. Oh we can no longer allow drivers under the age of 25 to test drive such a powerful car, I asked if I could arrange cover personally for the test drive and they refused. This really infuriated me, I was genuinely interested in the Mk6 I was not a window licker! I went to Audi the nexy day and they had no qualms whatsoever about me test driving a brand new S3 :surprised: Hence to say Audi got the sale and VW didn't :angry015:
-
^^ That's absolutely ridiculous!!! Especially as you had bought a more powerful car from them previously!!!!
-
I know the feeling, the garage I get all my warranty work done at wouldnt let me test drive the Edition 30 they had in even though it was a demo car. So went to Otley and bought from them instead. I made this known to a salesman at the first one to let them know they didnt get the sale. Arses.
Just goes to show you shouldnt judge a book by its cover :happy2:
Roll on a week on Thursday and hopefully my car will be better :driver:

You just missed a great private plate that would have suited you on Ebay Edition 30. 666 JNX (jinx)
It was pretty cheap too..
-
 :jumping:
Think when March 2010 arrives it will be time for a new motor or possibly a replacement ED30 with a few extras I wish I had if the problems persist.
-
Cars going in Wednesday, fingers crossed it gets fixed
Still vibrating and whining like hell and feels like it doesnt pull lower down the rev range, no wheel spin anyway when I hooof it, which is odd.
Fan is still going strong every 5 minutes.
-
Car went in today and got a call about an hour after saying they have to keep it in for 2-3 weeks as the parts are on back order and my ca is in pieces
Its a motor to do with the fan and they need to strip it down to see what make it is...hope that stops the whining and the fan coming on, if not its getting dumped there until its sorted.
I have my Dads car for just over a week as hes on holiday but they wont lend me a car from VW as I have a ban against my license even though they lent me a car last time
Seriously considering selling up, just had too many problems with this one, more than I did with my Vauxhall. Just cant think of a worthy replacement.
-
See how it runs when you get it back mate
I cant believe the amount of unluckyness you have... and fairly new'ish car to have so many problems !
-
they say chinese people have bad luck in black cars.. looks like it applies to you too mate.. good luck with getting it fixed, its really just pot luck..
-
Really disappointed
Been avoiding driving it aswel because it annoys me so much and to have to wait a further 2+ weeks is just a kick in the balls.
-
I feel your pain fella...a similar series of events happened with my previous car. I just got rid of it in the end - however there were other reasons for that decision too.
I'd see how the ED30 feels once its been repaired. If all the problems get sorted then you will have a brilliant car :happy2:
-
Don't give up on it mate, these things happen. Just get it mapped when you get it bac, that will make you love it again
-
Theres other reasons aswel, im always skint at the minute as no full-time positions are available at work. Got paid Friday and available balance is £4.96, shocking do.
Need a new job, fast.
