Ok so ive had my Eddy for a couple of months now. Its a 5 door but i havent had any passengers in the back, until the other day when i was ferrying the mother. She was moaning that she couldnt find the seatbelt buckle (i refer to the part thats on the belt and not fixed down by the seat). After a few minutes of moaning i got annoyed.... looked for myself, and well ill be damned! There isnt a buckle on the belt atall! It cant of broken off so it must never have been there! Have i got a monday morning car? I hope not...

Ha ha that is strange!! It must have had one originally. The car wouldn't get through quality control if it didn't!
-
or how did it pass its last MOT????

That is strange! :P I take it under the seat there is the mount for one?
-
Well this is it, surely it would have to be there! Maybe the belt has been removed and refitted before and they've left the buckle off. Saying that i dont think it can come off because of the stopper thing on the belt

Its the buckle part thats missing. Like the plug/male part of the assembly. The socket is present! Im going to ask VW when im there next. Its a little annoying as nobody can sit there (safely) :scared:

Does it look like its been ripped off? I take it not... Any Pictures?
-
Very strange. It must have been there otherwise, as Rich mentions, it wouldn't (well shouldn't) have passed its MOT.
-
Unless there was a dodgy MOT tester involved, it would have been present at its last MOT.
-
Although it is obviously an MOT failure, in my 10 years of driving i have never seen a tester look for seatbelt buckles.... I guess they would just presume they were there! And im not talking backstreet ticket sellers, i mean very reputable indys aswell! Oh well i dont think it is possible to get a buckle and fit it onto the belt so it may have to be a full assembly

My old man used to take his mk2 to a 'back street looking' MOT tester and they used to check all the belts by fastening them. I guess it depends on the tester.

Have you checked it's not hiding right at the bottom or at the top behind some trim ? I find it a hell of a job turning them round let alone removing one.
