Does anyone use either of the Forge quick/short shifters in the link?
plus what is the main difference here? surely making the gear change shorter makes it quicker!
Any info much appreciated!

Used to have a forge side and throw. Fookin hated it. Notchy as hell. Took it off after about a month

Think there are a couple of people who use them. I have been chatting to AndrewJB about them as he had one on his FR. He liked it. Other people have mentioned that they didn't. I posted this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/shortshiftersuk/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/shortshiftersuk/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686) in the wanted section for someone. They are almost identical but alot cheaper. Don't know how different the Forge ones are compared to stock apart from having the slot in them.

Just been on the link the o.p posted and was wondering if the 42 design shifter bushings make any difference.

I use Neuspeed's short-shift and I like it very much.

I have both the Forge units showing in the first link, also have the 42DD bushes and a different version of the shifter mounting bushes that you can get from Alex at AKS.
Shifting is very tight and precise.

so if i was to go with the quick shifter should i really replace the other bits your mention (note i have no idea what they are).
ie the quick shifter is less useful without the other bits??

The short shift is a great mod, one of the first things i changed.
Up untill recently i was just using the short shift without having replaced the bushes & i loved it, now i have added the 42dd bushes kit, it makes a nice difference...
Its klass in my eyes... Maybe get a drive in one that has had the short shifter :happy2: to see what you think!

Scopes is yours the Audi s3/TT shifter? Did you have to set the 'service position' after you'd fitted the shifter?? Also where do you get the uprated bushes from? I like a good bush

:signLOL:
The short shifter is Forge, as far as i remember i got it from Awesome, maybe cheaper places to get these from, that i wasnt aware of at the time...
The bushes also from Awesome :happy2: ... We all like good bushes!
There was about 3/4" to 1" shortened of it, striaght swap, no messing...

The bushes were a bit more tricky to fit, as the forge short shifter has a thinker pin to pop threw the bushes, with precision drilling the hole for the pin to pop threw had to be increased to fit...
:fighting: wasnt aware of that when buyin them...

There are different kits available depending on the year of your car and type of original bushes. Don't know if that's was the issue with yours mate. 44DD have a handy guide on identifying which ones you require. Have a look here http://www.42draftdesigns.com/tech/shifterbushings.html (http://www.42draftdesigns.com/tech/shifterbushings.html)

At the time matey , i was'nt aware they came in different sizes. I had placed an order with Awesome & again i was'nt made aware...
I didnt even realsie untill i tried to fit them, they would not work, so just drilled the hole out to 10mm & worked perfect
