Title: 'On Road' Driving Experience
Post by: rdfcpete on October 27, 2012, 12:13:05 am
I drove a Gallardo, 996 Turbo and GTR on a driving experience back in July and absolutely loved the day. Having done a lot of Karting as I grew up, I scored well in the tutors reviews in each car. Having done one driving experience I knew it would give me the appetite to do some more.

I've scouted the net a bit and being close to Silverstone, Rockingham and Bedford Drome', there's plenty of choice.

Something I came across were these drives on public roads:

I can't imagine that being close to a track experience as on road you've got plenty of risks and hazards that you simply wouldn't get on track. Does this mean it would simply be a Sunday style drive for 90 minutes given the insurance implications of being on public roads?

Has anyone done something like this before or know anyone that's done a similar experience?

Keen to hear feedback  :happy2:

Thanks.

Is this such a new (or dodgy) concept that no-ones done it before?  :popcornsoda:

I've got to be honest, the closest I've heard to this is the super car clubs like P1 and Ecurie 25, but they're obviously quite different. It would be interesting to know what you think if you do end up doing it.

Not given this any more attention in truth given that it's a relatively unknown activity. Bit of risk involved considering the cost and the fact it's a gift.

I did however go to Mercedes World last Thursday to drive a standard C63 AMG coupe before driving the C63 AMG Black Series coupe which was superb. Fully recommended it for the offer price of £250.00 and ended up with a track instructor that had done stunt work in the Sweeney while also working with the Top Gear guys  :happy2:
