Title: Milltek Exhausts
Post by: GTsport on November 15, 2012, 01:04:53 pm
Hi Folks,

Want to get a Milltek exhaust sorted in the next couple of weeks.  Just wondered where's the best place to source one from?

Or is it a case of Milltek having a price structure for retailers to work to?

Based in the midlands but don't mind travelling if there's a good deal to be had

I believe Milltek have a pricing structure.

Some dealers might give you free fitting others may take some money off.

Statllers in Sheffield are Milltek dealers. Good bunch of chaps too.

Roadrunner in Nottingham always used to do some cracking offers for Milltek, not sure if they still do but they used to sell on eBay. :happy2:

Only trouble with the milltek is the back box hangs below the rear valance which is a bit annoying

....I thought they had revised that. Mine doesn't.

Robin, isn't yours a custom Milltek rather than an "off the shelf" exhaust?

Good to see you back on here mate  :happy2:

I've got a full Milltek lined up for earlier in the new year when my mate sells his Leon FR. I've also wondered about the back box but have considered getting it cut out and have a suitcase delete pipe made up. Obviously not as bad with a second hand one. Don't know whether I'd want to do it to a brand spanker.

....Yes it's custom but using their components. I think my backbox is the same as the one Milltek manufactured for VWR (except that mine is a quad exit).

Ah right, never even considered that. Would an edition 30 valance cover it better than a standard gti one?!

That's what I like about the votex valance I've currently got on. Sits quite low to the ground and makes the car look more planted. Finding one with the exhaust cut outs is like trying to fing rocking horse poo!

Cheers Matto. Been quite as I was contemplating getting a new car and giving the golf to the misses, but I've not finished with it yet

Yeah I think it'd be a brave move to chop a new back box up but would be worth a go on a used system. I'm wanting the turbo downpipe too so would be a bit wary of it sounding a bit too loud with a straight through system.

not sure if a edition 30 will be better or not to be honest

I see what you mean.

Love the look of you car, It does look rather smart!

Did you go for the Edition 30 style tips? (80mm twin jets I believe they call it!)

....That's good news. I had the impression that Milltek would do something about this when I brought it to Phil Millington's attention and suggested they check out similar user opinions about the visible backbox.  :happy2:
