Ok, so if you take out the "i dont like the diving little git" or the "i cant believe he refused to come on" aspects, who is the best talent of the two south americans? Would you take either over Torres?
-
Tevez all day long. He has proven himself in the premiership every year he has been over here for every club he has played for. Torres appears to have been a one season wonder over here
-
On balance it would have to be Tevez, but to be honest I find it very hard to put aside personal feelings towards them.
-
I thought this thread was about wine :ashamed:
Shows how much I know about football....
.....and wine
-
Suarez all day long. He is far more loyal than Tevez, and rated at 40-50 million now, and worth it, unlike Torres.

Loyalty is nothing to do with talent though...

He is incredibly talented. Joint top Prem scorer, and one of the most skillful players in the World at the moment. He also has a fantastic engine, and is incredibly strong. A defender's nightmare.
-
He loyalty thing is interesting though. Has his loyalty to Liverpool really been tested yet? As far as I'm aware no other clubs have shown interest in him. I know he signed a long term deal but that could be Liverpool sealing their investment.
Perhaps his loyalty will be reinforced by Scouse-Mafia threats a la Stevie G when he wanted to join Chelsea

He has come out and said this week how much he loves all the support he gets from the fans, manager and the squad, and how happy he and his family are in Liverpool. He states he has signed a new contract and wants to be here for many years to come. This in response to the rumours of a 50 million move to Man Sh1tty. I actually believe him as well.
-
My vote goes to that fugly little terrier Tevez! One player you dont want to see on the oppositions team sheet, can't say Suarez has that same factor, yet.
-
The Man City rumour didn't even last 24 hours before being quashed by the club :signLOL:
I kind of think Suarez does have the fear factor, much in the same way Tevez does, and like Craig Bellamy used to. They all display a thirst for winning which you rarely see from Torres.
-
Suarez is everything I hate about footballers. I don't car how good he is, the guy is scum and not worthy of wearing a red shirt. If you watch how he plays his greatest talent is drawing fowls and taking dives, he is three times better at this than playing actual football, and we all can see he is brilliant at that.
Maybe a bit strong but I see him as a criminal who's disgraceful antics get ignored because of his talent. Liverpool have not had a decent team of players for 20 years, but I still feel they are regarded in the world as one of the greats and as such, should hold up the highest professional standards and go another 10 years without a trophy rather than employ cheats to prosper. Rant over. :fighting2:
-
on this seasons form, so far, you would have to take suarez only RVP is matching him. But Tevez has proved himself for a longer period of time in the prem.
Dont think you can say Torres was a one season wonder as Liverpool had at least 2 good seasons out of him, but have read Roman is fed up with him and wants to sign Falcao(sp?)
As a Liverpool fan have to kind of agree with Top Cat ie is great when he does the business on the pitch but have doubts over his character leave a bitter sweet taste.
I would honestly take £50mill for him - as long as we spent it wisely this time :chicken:
-
Suarez also misses far too many chances and has done since he joined Liverpool. They would have won many more games if he could finish. He is though world class at diving and pestering referees

I agree, but not so much this season. His finishing has improved quite a lot, and as he gets himself into such great positions to create so many chances, if it continues to improve, he is going to be up there with the very best
-
At the moment I think I'd take Fellaini over Suarez...
-
Im a Man Utd fan and hate all 3 players BUT... There is no denying there talents.
Torres - When he come to Liverpool he was WORLD CLASS, he gave any defender a torrid time. His finishing, pace, movement was what made him such a good striker and he punished teams. Even our Vidic he terrorised. He got injured and it effected him. I also think the loss of Alonso which gave Gerrard that bit more freedom effected how Torres played.
Tevez - Was always rated when he was in Argentina, then when he came to the prem with Mascherano after the first 4 games I thought what was all the hype about? Then all of a sudden he was on fire and kept them up on final day of the season, he scored the volley from the chip over against us which was the goal for safety. When he joined us Fergie didnt really give him a chance as he will always pick Rooney. I think he was a quality player though, whenever he did play for us didnt really have anything bad to say about him. Then he left for Man sh*tty and well, then he became a **** :signLOL:
Suarez - We was linked with Suarez for a couple of summer transfer windows before he joined Liverpool, I already knew he had a talent just needed a bigger platform to showcase. Once he came to Liverpool he looked immense immediately, was unlucky in his first few games not to of scored more. I hate Suarez probably more than the other 2 but this season he has come on leaps and bounds for Liverpool. His work rate is insane, his movement, timing of the runs, the way he bends his runs is insane. He has scored 11 goals in 16 appearances so far and thats quality. However, the only thing I dont like about him is generally how many attempts on goal it takes before he scores. His the player in the prem with the most attempts on goals and the most misses.
Essay over, no bias :)
Edit: Cant stand Suarez / Torres diving.

They've got nothing on Ashley Young though
-
Agree'd mate.
Pisses me off when players dive.
Suarez has been AWFUL for it this year though...
Belly flopping to the floor against Stoke after no contact was made lol.
Every game his done a horrific dive.
-
Bale has been pretty terrible for it too
-
I no I thought it was surprising from Bale as well.
His a class player and I like Spurs. Would love to see them do well in Champions League.
Wish they never lost Harry though.
-
At the moment I think I'd take Fellaini over Suarez...
Fellaini is one of the best form midfielders in Europe at the moment. When Moyes goes, he will too. Possibly before.
Tevez has done worlds more than Suarez to date in terms of success and performance at top English clubs. I can't think beyond the Carling Cup what Suarez has won at Pool either?...
Plus Suarez has gone out his way to make himself the most unpopular player in the Premiership. John Terry can't believe his luck...
-
:signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Yeah if your going based on success it has to be Tevez.
-
More ridiculous behaviour from Tevez this weekend. After scoring both his goals he mimicked driving a car. For those that didn't know, his Porsche Panamera was impounded by Police earlier in the week because he was caught driving without a proper licence. The same thing happened three years ago. He's a clever lad.
-
2 cracking goals from Suarez yesterday. Brilliant finishing. 13 in 17? Awesome.

And a sending off that never happened

He's clever enough to be earning £200k a week.. :happy2:
Waits for onslaught to begin...

I think people have forgotton football is a contact sport. Now, Adebayor? That was disgusting. Potentially a career ending challenge. But Suarez's was probably just a yellow.
-
Suarez's tackle was nasty, easily an ankle breaker on another day. In the laws of the game, I would say it meets the criteria for a sending off. For me, a caution as a minimum because it needed punishment of some kind. He leaves a foot in quite often, as we all know...
Adebayors' also met the criteria of a red card IMO, so no sympathy there. I'm sure he just saw the ball and nothing else, but if the defenders leg (can't remember who it was, Vermaelen?) was planted in the ground, it would've been a fracture or break without question. No control over the pace or direction of the tackle and a launched missile through the air - that's not how you win the ball fairly.
I think this thread could have some mileage

Not that bad, but agree it should have been a yellow. Adebayor's was a two footed job with both feet a foot off the ground. A side impact on the knee could have finished that chap's career. Red card deffo.
-
It was exactly the same tackle that Coloccini made on him the other week. And he got sent off.
-
Still haven't got round to seeing any highlights from the weekend yet.
Ill try and catch up tonight though.
-
Well I have Suarez, Tevez and Van Persie in my FFL team so am doing ok
Dont see how you would take Fellaini over Suarez, not the same position, Fellaini is flourishing in the old Tinm Cahill role and has been the stand out midfielder/deep striker so far - with Michu not far behind!
Suarez's finishing is betting better (although much improvement still to be had) and he is top scorer so far with 10 goals.
Andrew - Whats happened to Papiss Cisse? Only Ba seems to be doing well for the Geordies at mo

He's been suffering from a back injury, which he was due to come back from against Swansea, but the Senegalese FA banned him from playing!
-
Neither of them, one is racist and the other is a greedy WH**E
-
Incidentally did anyone see Tevez's leaked payslip?
Nice!
-
^^^^ crazy days!!
-
Did anyone see Fellainis antics yesterday? He looked like he was auditioning for a martial arts film!
I expect he'll pick up bans for the head butt and the punch. Really daft because I didn't think Shawcross had hassled him too much during the game.
-
^^^^ do the players think (with 10 ish TV cameras around the pitch) they will get away with such blatant stupidity! :stupid:
Half the time some players go out on the pitch with the intention of winding the opposition and if they get such a reaction and get the player sent off, it's job done (probably with a pat on the back from the Manager back in the locker room)
-
Shawcross did remarkably well not to react. As far as I saw he didn't even approach the referee.
I read a quote last week that said on average there are 500 cameras at a Premier League game!

Shawcross may have done well to not react, but he is just as dirty himself!!
as for the poll.... has to be Suarez, very closely followed by Tevez.

Oh yeah, absolutely! That lad has form, but from what I saw of the game he was pretty quiet, unless there was some off-the-ball stuff going on.
-
I didnt see the incident myself.... buy have seen shawcross do some pretty nasty stuff in the past.
now hes an england internation he will no doubt get a little more protection too.
although lets see how soon he plays again after his last showing :signLOL:
