hi guys yesterday evening i hit a pothole and it has bent my wheel. front passenger.
wondering if you guys think i should repair it or get a new one?
i am going to claim for it (or try) with leeds council.
also does anybody know the part number for them from vw?

Don't know the part number but there over 500 quid each with the v.a.t. mate :scared:. Get on to the council. :happy2:

Your lucky you got a pic of it mate because the minute you contact them they'll be out to repair it (the pot hole not your wheel), normally they're quite good with this sort of thing but I'd get searching and get as much info and tips on this as you can .

I think for better evidence get a ruler and take more pics ie depth width etc and then get on to the council.

Take a accurate depth of that hole with a spirt level and a tape measure + photo to prove it. Then, letter to the council and wait until 2015 when they finally get back to you. :signLOL:
Ohh... and that should be easily repairable, as its not cracked they should be able to pull it out on a jig! :happy2:

^^^ Leeds City Council are pretty good at getting in touch with you in regards to the claim. they take an age to pay out once it's been approved tho.

agree with this. i've had dealings with Leeds City Council myself due to a pothole ruining a brand new £300+ tyre on my parents' car. as soon as you report it they'll repair it, and the guy wanted to know all the measurements and we only had a picture. thankfully the pothole was on my street so i just walked him up and showed him where the repair was. he was satisfied based on the size of the repair that a claim could be upheld, but you might get someone else who is not as forgiving.

You will have to have evidence that they were negligent to get any payment . Only way to do this is to prove it has been reported to them and they failed to repair it , i think it is in 48 hours . Good luck , i would also suggest that you could offer them the line " i can possibly source a replacement for about £150 " plenty of singles about .

Blimey that's a fair dent it looks like a fair pothole... did you not see it :smiley: I would imagine that the tyre may have sidewall damage to it as well... you may want to claim for that as well bud. Wouldn't fancy that on the car at the speeds the GTI is capable of .....
I do believe you need to show the depth of the hole as I think there is a certain amount they can get away with...

I had this problem with Southend Council, how do you know/prove other people have already reported a pothole ??
I had a wheel damaged and a tyre ruined due to a nasty pothole 2 years ago on my BMW ( MV Alloy ) and after 3 letters they did not want to know, said the highway was inspected at the required intervals !! again how do we know what they say is true.
I made enquiries and was told most Councils wriggle out of paying and don't cough up. Good luck to anyone that gets compensated.
