Title: andybon's Golf 2.0 tdi sport.
Post by: andybon on December 02, 2012, 05:01:21 pm
I joined up yesterday so thought I would do a quick write up of my car.

I got it at the end of October as my last car (a Lexus IS200 Sport) was costing too much to run, So on the hunt for a decent Golf I went. After looking at a few and not liking them i went to one last garage before giving up the hunt for a while. There I seen a 57 plate Golf 2.0 TDI sport with full dealer service history, 49k on the clock, one owner and in near enough as new condition! So I jumped at it!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ff34%2Fandybon123%2Fimagejpg1.jpg&hash=4d2926fa2997d9f12c0debf4b574e318f582b32b)

As soon as I got it home I vowed to keep it standard................That lasted all of a week. After deciding that the wheels I had in the shed that I removed from the lexus going to waste (I got them in a 5x112 fitment and used wobble bolts on them) I decided to see if they would fit the Golf, And they fit perfectly! So ordered a set of spigot rings and VW centre cap badges and put them on.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ff34%2Fandybon123%2Fimagejpg3.jpg&hash=71eb64f1304b6f69d8f53aebcf3f90bcd25391d7)[/URL]

Then it had a major service consisting of all the filters, belts and fluids along with a water pump for piece of mind. When I replaced the air filter I changed it for a K&N panel filter as I do with all my cars. Also swapped the headlight and main beam bulbs with a set of Osram night breaker plus bulbs and fitted a vw polo aerial.

Then this little lot arrived.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fcarimages%2F10265%2F75986_10151149294858095_1821635642_n.jpg&hash=a6d53d6bb7cddcbcb7d82bb68edcd6471b2906a9)

A genuine front center armrest with rear vent pipe, A full set of Bosch wiper blades, New personalized number plates and a Grom Audio I pod connection interface. Fitted all of these over a weekend along with a Parrot ck3100 handsfree kit that I removed from my Lexus when I sold it.

Then this last week I have had it Remapped by Awesome GTI which makes it go like sh1t off a hot shovel and I fitted my powerflex dog bone mount kit in it today (What a difference that has made  ) along with a good wash polish and interior valet.

Just waiting for my Team Heko wind deflectors and lockwood stainless sill plates to arrive along with a new undertray which has gone missing!

Future plans so far are to lower it slightly say about 35mm and have the rear windows tinted something near the style of the OEM tints, and to get another number plate holder for the front as I smashed that putting it on!

After that i'm stuck with what to do, So any suggestions would be nice  :scared:

It sure is! I like the little touches that surprise you, Basically anything OEM.  MAXITROL have you got a link to it  :happy2:

Just wandering if these can have the auto lock feature put onto them, I had a Seat Ibiza a few years ago that had it, Where as soon as the car reached 10mph the  doors locked automatically.

Might ask for this to be done when I get round to having the cruise control retrofitted.

Like the Highline clocks, I can see them been expensive and a pian to fit though!

I'm glad, I'm sorry but I hated those wheels  :ashamed:

I would say go for somthing like classix, or even monzas?

Here is an example, not mine!  :P

I like the classix, but looking for 18's as a minimum.

So far I have these shortlisted.

swaying between new RS6, Golf R wheels and the r32/r36 style wheels.

Golf R wheels (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18-5X112-VW-GOLF-MK5-ALLOYS-GOLF-MK6-ALLOYS-SCIROCCO-SPORT-ALLOYS-/150870910460?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item23209b65fc)

R32/R36 Style wheels (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370706952073?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)

RS6  (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190757860049?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)

Going more towards the Golf R wheels

Another parcel turned up today, So fitted them.

New GTI pedal set and a footrest plate off ebay.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fcarimages%2F10265%2FIMAG0248.jpg&hash=efff593ab0b2d2893763ce68be4d500a08523f30)

Also had the lights coded in that I fitted to the doors yesterday.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fcarimages%2F10265%2FIMAG0249.jpg&hash=a9b74cd14ddb52a1c151f61d8456c0dcf7dfde2e)

Also why he was coding in the lights I asked him to turn on a few other options. Now have the anti hijack (locks the car when it reaches 15km/h), rain closing on the windows, Boot pop, selective door unlocking (Unlocks the drivers door with one press, then unlocks the rest with anohter) also the extra wipe a few seconds after its washed the windows.

Will get some daylight pics of the Team Heko wind deflectors and window tints when I get the chance, Just realised I never mentioned i did them just before christmas!

Thanks, Dying to get new wheels next and get all the bits i have here fitted, Just missing a bumper moulding now as i have lost the ones i got  :rolleye:

They don't, they go up with no trouble at all, I didn't bother with the metal clips that came with the kit, Just used more double sided tape around the edge then put them in the seals.

Got a lot of tidying up to do on it. Got a crack to repair on the left hand side, and a scuff on the lower splitter. Also need to find a way of sorting all the chrome out as its pitted and has lifted in some places :( Was thinking of using some of the chrome vynil to sort it out but wandering if there is anything I can buy or even do to sort it out?

Not dissing flaps (normally love em, just a different kind)

Mine when it had the same set up was 182bhp and 352lb/ft of torque so was fairly similar, so not that much out tbh.

Very nice Andy, the Jetta bumper is better looking than the Golf  :surprised:
Grassy pictures look good  :happy2:
I am fitting a GTI front spoiler/splitter some time soon, but then that might be it for me for a while!

Thanks, Believe it or not that is the car park for the local playing fields that is in front of my house.

I was in 2 minds when i got it about fitting the jetta front, was just going to go with the GTI one. Glad i did the jetta one now though, its a bit different and makes it look a lot brighter!

Got to repair the splitter as there is a scuff in it, I didn't have it done with the bumper as i thought it wouldn't be that noticeable, But now its driving me mad! Tempted to fit a GTI one on it though, Just got to find one for a good price!

Not done much to the car for the last few months, Kind of left it after buying a new toy!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fcarimages%2F7643%2Fr6.jpg&hash=e38071f32313e257c4a849bf2d08db48ed3054a9)

Had the cruise control fitted and works a treat, Also split an intercooler hose and had to replace that!

Its now in a garage having some cold start problems sorted and i an going to try and source a GT rear splitter and exhaust to finish the rear end off nicely.

Kind of fell out with the car for a while after a load of problems. Had various sensors replaced, starter motor, injector wiring loom, new battery, front and rear brakes, handbrake cables and even a fuel pump! Now its all running well (Runs and touches wood very quickly!)

Decided after nearly getting rid to keep it and do a little more to it, so today it started with a little subtle touch of a set of smoked mirror side repeaters.

Before

After

Next is a GTI/GT Exhaust and rear valance to match. If i ever get hold of a decent one!

Bit of a busy one last weekend, Started out by fitting a set of pressed pates and the GTI rear valance to the car. Also got holf of a set of GTI rear flaps to suit.

Got hold of a GTI Exhaust but after having a think have decided to go for a custom stainless cat back jobbie. Thats booked in for the end of February.

And now, The "big job" that broke out was fitting the RCD510 DAB radio along with the DAB antenna in the bootlid (Genuine VW item too!) Makes the dash look a lot more modern.

Next will be getting a bluetooth module to replace the parrot and make it look more factory!

Was messing about on ebay at work bored when I came across a set of wheels I wanted a while ago.

So after a little haggling and a 4 hour round trip i managed to bag them.

Booked in on monday for a cat back stainless exhaust, also waiting on a bluetooth module for the headunit.

Thanks :) I'm debating going lower with the car, possibly coilovers as work have made a new entrance to the carpark with no huge hump or holes! Just don't want to make it uncomfortable to drive. Wouldn't mind a set of leathers too for it aswell!
