I think more detail is needed. Are we talking about stuck on plates? Because 90% of cars are just two screws under covers which just pop up

Thank u 4 the constructive comments folks! Mine r stock and screwed in so to speak! Am being given a personal plate 4 my impending 40th, lol, so assuming they r just plates, so is it best to just stick new ones on, after removing current ones of course, r have them drilled and screwed in, ie proper dealer job??
Cheers!

Use the old plates as a template drill throught the old ones and through your new ones , go from the front to the back (The white or coloured bit drilled first ) Use a drill bit for wood and use an electric drill , put the drill bit in the electric drill and press the button putting the drill bit where you want to drill the hole and press firmly .
PS . Make sure the plates are not on your lap.

Oh we have a comedian I see! Trust me, the only DIY I do is after the watershed, lol! Halfords fit them anyway for £6 apparently, jobs a good'n, I hope! ;-)

this is literally one of the easiest mods you will ever be able to do. dont take it to halfrauds - like GarrardRJ says and just put the old ones on top of the new ones (a little masking tape holding them together helps so they dont move), and drill through.
Seriously i cannot believe there is so many posts on this

Or just buy some self adeshive tabs, stick to back of plate and stick to car, hold firmly for 20-30secs, Job Done :happy2:

Halfords should be ashamed to change peeps for something my 8 month old granddaughter could do while fast asleep and holding onto her Ninky Nonk (don't ask ) all at the same time.

The only thing you need to have to do with halfrauds is to go in and purchase their number plate sticky pads... dont give them buggers the money for a simple job!!
With the old plates off, just make sure you clean the surface properly so they can get decent adhesion.. also, allow them to fully cure for 24hours if you can before you take the car anywhere, just so to prevent dibble chapping your window when your out and about, saying that they're pretty strong so even a couple of hours should be ok..
Theres two different thickness, 1mm pad and 6mm pads.
I've got the 1mm's on both front and rear, just make sure you line them up correctly before you press them home.. also make sure its not like -40 outside!
When it comes to removing the plates, just get some dental floss and run it behind the plate and it should lift off the car no problems. if you then want to clean the remnants of the pads off the plate/car, i've used AutoGlym intensive tar remover and its worked a treat!

Dont go to Halfrauds their plates are ridiculously priced and the spotty teenager will not put it on straight. Buy plates on line and use sticky pads it'll look a cleaner job.
If you drill use some tape too as it can help stop the plate cracking.
