Hey up all.
When I installed a Parrot kit into a Polo 9n, i just used the supplied cables into the quad locks. Easy peasy.
Can i do the same with a Parrot kit in the MK6 golf, specifically the RCD210 radio as below?
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk%2Fimages%2Feditor%2Fimages%2FRCD-210.jpg&hash=a62d8d5c5705d3b1a70430c4050605a7647cf5f4)
Thanks in advance.
Rich

Bump.
-
should be the same as the other one, some you have to add a wire to a switched live
I'm surprised that you haven't upgraded the RCD210 to a 310 or better

Ta Eddie.
Not sure there's much to be gained from buying a rcd310.
-
Yep, still plug and play, Rich :happy2:
I recently fitted a Parrot kit to the Mrs' mk6 Golf without problems...
-
Wonderful. Thanks again. I'm sick of Laura untangling iPhone headphones to take calls, it's only time before she has an accident.
Ill look forward to fitting it :-)
-
Its easier to fit than in a mk5 as its much easier to remove the head unit. Think it only took me about 15-20 mins to remove head unit, fit Parrot and refit head unit :signLOL:
-
:happy2:
-
Why do you want to fit one of these?

Well i suppose if it were your car ian you would prefer a cockatoo..... :chicken:
-
Touché. :sad1:

So where the A and B plugs are... those will be disconnected and feed from the cig. socket?
-
Hmm, looking at that its just a plug and play mate..
The one's I have fitted are the ck3100, all had the same style bullet connectors for power just like un your diagram (note, you might need to swap red to orange of the unit does not power off when ignition is turned off) but still required a 12v connection (was a red lead)..
Can you take a pic of the wiring in the Parrot box?
-
Actually, now that I think about it, the 12v red lead that required connecting was off the adaptor that was required (car specific)

-
Really? ahh balls... was hoping i wouldnt need an extra harness! :sad1:
-
Me too the first time I fitted one to Lyndsey's old mk5.....
Had it all to bits and and was looking at it thinking "something aint right here, nothing to connect to the radio".. Quick google later and I was on my way to Halfords :signLOL:
-
Are those looms available from halfrauds?
-
Yep, IIRC £15-20 mate :happy2:
-
Cool... will go and investigate. Thanks. :happy2:
-
Or just find the lead you need then get it off eBay.
-
Parrot loom...

-
Right... got the SOT lead.
Managed to test the parrot unit by pushing the red power lead (in the SOT) loom into the power to the radio. Obviously that is not switched, so i need to connect that to a switched live feed!!! :scared: :scared:
HELP!!
-
Power feed to cig lighter is what I use :happy2:
-
Great... will have another look tomorrow.
I might just post a few pics if that ok... can you check that ive connected it all up right please?
-
No worries mate :happy2:

Looks fine to me matey :happy2:
Before you box it all up after wiring it in, make sure it powers down when you turn the ignition off.. If it doesn't, swap the red->red & orange->orange so they are red->orange & orange->red
-
Yes it will be 'bench' tested before I even start routing any cables.
-
You will be fine routing the mic and controll unit wiring before testing.
Its actually easier than it all looks mate, you'll be fine :happy2:
-
Don't forget to put a cable tie around the main Parrot connector which goes into the blue box, they're notorious for coming away. Also, do another check once all the boxes, etc. are in place, prior to refitting the radio as connectors sometimes come loose when being positioned. :happy2:
-
:popcornsoda:
-
?
-
Is it done yet?
-
LMAO... no... lauras gone out in the car to work! Will set to work in the AM. :happy2:
Multimeter at the ready.
-
:sad1:
No need for a metrer mate. IIRC you have 3 wires going to the cig lighter. A earth (brown), a live (cant remember the colour but it has a diferent coloured stripe through it) and I think it has one other thin wire..
You need the thick one with the two colours on it :happy2:
-
OK... ill test it just to be sure before I start connecting things up. :happy2:
-
Done...

Had to reverse the orange and red fused leads to get the unit to power down correctly.
Thanks for your assistance Damian... :happy2:
-
Ive just realised that its covering the hazard switch.... Robin is gonna do his nut!!!
-
:congrats:
Glad its all done mate.. Told you it was easy :happy2:
-
Yes it was easy... just a bit fiddly.
Im seriously thinking about getting one for mine to replace my old parrot kit. the ISO loom is already there so will be easy to swap over.
-
I'm currently running one of the VW bluetooth units and quite like it

Generic google image..

Ahh its that a 'Bury' ?
-
I looked dat the VW Bluetooth Touch Phone Kit things only thing putting me off was the fact the bars have green on them, would suit the car so much better if it was red! Maybe that's just me being picky though! Do they run on firmware? Might take a look see if theres anything that can be fiddled with to make it red haha :P

Thats the fella, I keep forgetting what they are called :ashamed:
