Can anyone recommend a decent tyre shine. Every time I detail my car, I feel the tyres let it down.
-
I like the Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel, about £10 from Halfords.
Apply the Gel, leave to "set" overnight and it will not spray itself along your cleaned bodywork and will last a lot longer. I usually find it lasts about a week, depending on the weather.
:happy2:
-
Blackfire stuff is decent and easy to apply.

x2 for Megs Gold Class Endurance. If you put a second coat on after the first coat has dried, It lasts ages I find.
-
I like Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel and although it isn't strictly a tyre dressing I have had some success with Auto Finesse Revive.

Didnt know that, nice one, will give that a whirl! :happy2:
-
Zaino z16, trust me , best one I've used.
It's what I use and everyone asks.
-
Also important that the tyres are cleaned effectively before applying any dressing. I use dilute APC and a Vikan brush.
-
Megs Endurance Gel for me too, cant fault it or beat it myself!
-
Meguiars gets my vote to, i use the meguiars applying tool to apply the gel aswell

Just buy yourself a cheap, hard sponge and cut it into the correct size pieces for applying the Gel, works a treat and saves you a small fortune on that Meg's applicator as well.
:happy2:
-
As above, use APC and a stiff brush to clean the tyre wall. Rinse and repeat until the foam generated is clean. Dry and then apply gel THINLY. As above, a repeat coat midweek helps with longevity. My current preferred dressing is Gliptone Tire'n'Trim Jelly. Like megs but lasts longer.

I use the Megs stuff , I use a cheap shoe cleaning sponge to apply it , theyre only pennies and it does the job.
-
I just use silicone spray seems to last longer that the megs tyre gel
-
i4detailind.co.uk own brand tyre shine! trust me
-
Another vote for Megs Endurance aswell!
-

Blackfire long lasting tyre gel gives a great shine and does last long, but it also stays wet for a long time. If you have a light coloured car and drive off just after applying it, it will spray up the side of the car.
I have started using my Auto Finesse Revive on my tyres as well as the plastics now as it gives a more natural "new tyre" look and dosn't spray off.

I'd agree. Backfire is good, but I've also found it to remain wet for a good while
-
Maybe applying too much? Doesn't need a lot. Got some revive as well so might give that a try, or AF Gloss or Satin a go. Becoming a big fan of AF products.
-
tyre glare is what i use
-
Even a thin film takes a long time to dry in with the Blackfire stuff. Polished Bliss is local to me and Richard advised me to put it on and leave it over night if possible. Thats what the do for customers cars when they use it

Same advice given to me as well when I bought it from PB. Not always possible though I'm afraid. TBH I've never had an issue with Blackfire.

Im not a fan of 'bling' tyre shine, Ive used AF Revive which isn't a dedicated product but it looked ok. However, i keep hearing people rave about, Espuma RD50 on DW
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt60%2Fgpe%2Fimages_zpse72d135e.jpeg&hash=dd69f8b1a487935c4dbb55d8ebaccebb2668a913)
Here is a quick snap, it looks a little wetter in the photo, than it does in the flesh - lets see how it performs over the next few weeks, bear in mind i live up a muddy track.
Note: this is on a Nokian Winter Tyre & some folks on DW are finding it works/looks differently on different makes of tyre

Very Glossy. :happy2:
-
Autobrite do a good one, Berryblast it's called
-
I like the Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel, about £10 from Halfords.
Yup Megs Tyre Gel for me. Use a foam pad to apply. leave overnight and then wipe off any excess in the morning. i found if I did not wipe off the excess the arches got covered in splatter
-
Megs Endurance is the best for durability.
Autosmart Tyre Dandy for ease of use.
-
Meg's and poor boys for me. :happy2:
-
Megs Endurance is the best for durability.
Gets my vote too, Used it for years and have always been happy with the finish.
-
Don't forget it's available at Halfords and it's 3-for-2 at the moment..
-
I am yet to try the megs gel stuff, just because its a little more inconvienant to use.
For ease of use I find AG tyre shine is very good, im using megs hot shots atm wich is also very good, i always give it a couple of coats. spray it on wet or dry, leave it to dry a little while and your good for 3 or so days.
-
I have Megs Endurance and Hot Shine.
Endurance lasts longer but not as convenient to apply as Hot Shine.
-
Auto Finesse gloss finish tyre shine for me it's great stuff and it's dry In 10 mins!
-
Megs Endurance. :happy2:
-
Hi Dom! lol
-
Alright Jamie! I see we've both made the transition! :jumping: More life here IMO.
-
megs defos! last for a while! due to its thickness
-
I've been using the Megs tyre shine gel (purple stuff) for some time now, but each I use it, it doesn't seem to dry, and when I drive, it ends up all over the wheels and bodywork... any suggestions?
-

Where did you guys come over from?

Welcome to the madhouse!
Meguiars Endurance is the best one I've used, usually lasts about a week, by which time I'm cleaning the car again. Apply (very thinly) in the evening, leave to dry overnight and will last longer than the other tyre shines I've tried, also by applying the day before you help stop any sure shine gel from spaying all down the side of the car.

thats weird :S u must be using quite a bit. I used to use a small brush and only put very very little on and make sure its all over the tyre edge. i would keep brushing round until it looked like its blended in
-
Autosmart high style ....been using it last month and its great ...no splatter ..easy on and looks great
sent using my own fingers

Really liking Espuma RD50, here it is on a Continental tyre

Turtle Wax Extreme Nano-Tech Tyre Gel works really great for me !
-
303 Aerospace Protectant. But only because i don't like the shiny finish on the others. Prefer a matt finish.

Plus 1, I find the gel better than other products as it reduces the amount that is flicked of the wheel.
-
I find the opposite, I like the Megs purple gel to put on and it looks great, however I find it flicks A LOT; the spray ones, like Carplan Tyre Slik don't flick half.
However, perhaps I'm not allowing it enough time to dry, certainly not over night... will try this next time.

Leave it on overnight then wipe off the excess the next day with an old cloth. Stops the flick off :happy2:
Or get mud flaps
-
I don't know if you guys are applying it differently but when I use Megs I can drive away after I've tidied up (around half an hour) and get no fling?
-
I used to use Meguires Tyre Gel and its messy as fook :fighting:. Gives the tyre a very wet look though, but I'm now trying out Zaino Z16 tyre dressing, more watery based but gives a good Dull, matt finish look rather then shiny and oily looking like the meguires Gel.
Its not messy at all I will say, and contents in the bottle look as though it might last a while
-
Auto Glym stuff is pretty useless IMO, leaves a seal that beads for a while but the colour dulls after a day or two, currently using 3M which seems ok so far but the best I've ever had was the bottle of spray that came with the BMW seal and protect package I got with my car, great sheen and lasted for weeks.
