Well i have just purchased an amzing low milage 1 lady owner gti , what map shall i use revo ,amd superchip or shall i send it to perfect touch for a custom map plz help
-
1 lady owner
You'll be needing a new clutch then, assuming it's a manual.
-
Im a mobile mechanic wont be a problem lol :scared:
-
I'm not sure about the best map. Apparently I have a terrible one, but it seems ok to me. There seem to be a lot of Revo lovers here; they're pricey though.
-
Main ones people use on here are Revo, APR, R Tech and superchips
-
Have some mates near me who are going to do a road remap takes a hole day but they managed to get 312bhp out of a standard mk5 gti with a pannel filter and a forged recirc valve the thing is a f*cking tool

hi matey, getting 312hp from a gti k03 with just a panel filter is impossible. I have a gti which ran at stage 2+. That was turbo back exhaust uprated f/p internals intake rs4 truss valve on octane boost and we managed 300hp from it. If you have seen dyno plots then more than likely the rollers will have been very kind.
A stage 1 map will see you in the region of 245-260hp. Most of the reputable tuners give decent gains on stage 1 so go with one of those. Revo, apr, giac imo
-
312bhp :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
You should go on stage with material like that.
-
If you want a brilliant map and want to spend 300 quid, get a PDT remap.
If you want a brilliant map and want to spend 600 quid, get a Revo remap!!!!
The Revo map is awesome, but double the price? I've got access to my mechanically identical old GTi (PDT Stage 1) so am going to do a back to back drives in both this and my current GTi (Revo Stage 1) very soon and I'll do a write up of what I find.

No wonder it took all day, they must have started at 5pm.
-
I'm running an offer on shark performance remaps with a free sts unit at the moment.
I can't promise 312bhp though...

I am guessing this guy is as good as Joe at hiding his secrets. :signLOL: My guess is he is touting for his mate, who sells maps. :indifferent: :fighting2:

My advice is go to a reputable place (that's recommended by folk on here) that is local(ish) to you :happy2:
You can pay between £250 - £600 for any of the reputable maps on this forum. If you like brands, pay £600 and get a Revo sticker for your window, a little less gets you super chips, and for around £250-300 you can have a PDT or R-Tech map (the latter I very much recommend).
At the end of the day, all maps (providing set up right) make about the same power (dependant on mods). For example, my £300 R-Tech custom map made the same power on the dyno as another GTI with a Revo map. . .
You pays your money, you take your choice

R Tech all the way, proper custom re-map!

X2
After the demonstration of James's 380bhp flatline power & 450lb ft torque with just a stg 2+ K04 and WMI, it really shows what Nick can achieve by properly custom mapping a car :notworthy:

Very interested in this as I am currently deciding between the 2.

PDT are in Sunderland , yes? Might have to keep that in mind as Im only up the road in Northumberland , if the GTI is going to be a keeper it will be getting a remap at some point.
-
Yes, we are in Sunderland.
-
Have said it before and will say it again, R-Tech & Jabbasport both offer essentially the same things as the "Big 2" at a much better price.
Jabba tuned my previous 2 cars and Jabba and R Tech tuned my current car, my next car will be mapped by R-Tech :happy2:

out of interest was the bhp of a standard gti

I didn't get a sticker :sad1:

197bhp :happy2:

I'm yet go get my car remapped. I will going to R-tech as the map is custom and I really don't see the point on spending 600 on a map! Also they seem to have fantastic feedback. It's simply a lack of time that has delayed me getting my map done.

Ah ok and exactly right.
I fail to see what people gain by continually piping up about the choices they've made it's almost as if they are on the payroll or it gives them a massive boner or both. :surprised:
Awaits pithy retort. :popcornsoda:
-
I think it's simply people giving feedback on good products.
Normally people complain about poor products/service etc rarely do people speak up when the opposite is true.
I think its a reflection of how happy people are with their choices, nothing more.
-
Buy something - Happy with it - others ask for recommendations - tell them about yours, as the meerkat says "simples".
If someone wants to pay for Revo or APR then feel free, no one here is gonna stop them :signLOL:
Don't think it's anything to do with payroll nor boners, both of which opinions you seem to offer up regularly

Exactly, the OP was after opinions, and that's what people have given
No problems with that :happy2:

Any reviews of a Shark performance remap? has anyone used it?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
-
Well, I've had Revo, Superchips, PDT and shark performance on my car.
If youre on a budget, get a PDT remap, If you want to spend loads of money, get Revo :happy2:
-
I got revo because im covered in white fur and have a black face.... :popcornsoda:

Not Shark then :innocent:
You still have GIAC and APR to test out anyway. Trying these two out should be your No1 New Years Resolution
