What is everyong doing on NYE? Anyone doing anything interesting?
Rich, you working this year again? Where at?
-
No. Nothing!!
-
Going to a 'quiet' house party at a friends new place... unsure if he is brave or stupid but i'm sure it will be a good night
-
NYE has never been a big think for me, nothing much changes.
Few friends are doing a dinner party and have taken it in turn over the last few years as to who is cooking etc. 4 couples having a quiet night in.
Nights out just turn into carnage at the moment, mad friday in leeds resulted in two deaths from mindless idiots.
Guess im getting old, i'd rather have a laugh with my friends at home.

I usually I have to make the Mrs stay awake till 12:00 on NYE... She usually has a bottle of wine and wants to go to bed by 10:30

Going to a friends for a house party.
Hoping for no repeat of my Chirstmas Eve
-
I just treat it like any other night to be honest. This year I'll be driving back from my parents house in Northumberland to the North West. I won't be making any special effort to stay up past 12.00am.

Sounds familiar!
-
Prob the usual 57+ course 3hour meal for me!
Will be about 8 other people (friends of my sisters).
Having a penthouse apartment in Rome means that from about 9pm - Midnight, you just step out on the roof balcony, and watch thousands of fireworks.
Then at midnight, all hell breaks loose. The night turns to day as hundreds of firework displays light up the sky. The noise is just crazy. It really is hard to explain.
-
Safely tucked up in bed by 10.30pm with my Ovaltine.

Ditto! :signLOL:
Its my age! Can't be bothered going out.
If you can find a pub around here with any admission tickets left to then spend all evening standing as they've removed all the table and chairs to get more peeps packed in to then fight your way to the bar for a drink, then at the end of the evening to have to walk home (due to no taxis available and those that are are about £30 for a 5 minute trip) in the wind, rain and freezing cold to get back home to be rudely woken up at 5am to go to work.
Staying in, cooking for friends and family (prepping a chilli & ginger marinade right now) and will be watching the celebrations on the TV.

dirty bugger....... :happy2:
-
Nothing planned. All overpriced nonsense. And ill have to try and calm the dogs down after the neighbours let off £1m of fireworks between them.
Just a quiet night in with the wife, enjoying each others company rather than watching drunken idiots get so smashed they wont remember the night anyway.
Yes, i am old.
-
It's nice to hear I'm not the only grumpy old bugger at NYE!
To be honest I've never really felt the need to do much on this night either. So quietish night in with the family sounds good to me! :drinking:
-
its all hyped up when you are young and then you realise its full of nonces (or people with edition 29.5's) who only go out once a year. the best ones are house parties or a meal with friends etc
-
Was going to stay in and have a couple of drinks with the wife but it looks like we are going to a freinds for Pizza instead.
-
12hr night shift starting at 19:00 :sad1:

Give me a wave when you pass Team Valley Retail park, Andrew (I only live 10 mins away) :happy2:
When I say we are going out I only mean that we are going to the local cricket club in out tiny village for a few drinks with family and friends. Will still be home by 11:00 :signLOL:
-
Also give me give you a wave when you pass Scotch Corner

HOUSE PARTY!!!!!!
Be feeling sorry for myself tomorro

Superb! My thoughts exactly. The novelty of NYE ended for me when I was 21. Overpriced and over hyped.
-
Parents and I where going down to London to walk around the shops, have a evening meal in an Italian restaurant and then head over to the embankment to watch the fireworks. But we saw the weather and walking around in the rain, was not worth it. So we are instead going to have a pub meal in our local (4 minute walk) instead and then watch the fireworks on TV.

I'm doing nothing. :rolleye:
2012 has been a nightmare year, one disaster after another after another after another, and never getting a break. The sooner its over the better. I'm not tempting fate by doing anything more this year!
Roll on 13 it cannot be anymore unluckie for us than 12.

2012 has been the worst year ever. Started in Jan when my uncle passes away and just got worse and worse. We last 3 members of our family in total as well as other close friends family... :sad1:

Im debating whether to go to the local pub for an hour or 2 and see whos in or just stop in for the night
I used to love New Years (im 23) but this year it just doesn't feel the same. I think i've sickened myself in the build up to it, had a very busy social christmas
Matt
-
It's my Birthday and I'm on my mini honeymoon in Bath so were going to a Greek restaurant for food, drinks, plate smashing and live music!
Hoping its a great night, champagne just been popped, Happy New Year all! :drinking:
-
I'm sitting in the house myself with some cold Warsteiner and a DVD. I was sick of Xmas Eve and NYE in the pub by the time I was 19 (I'm 43 now) , so theres no way I'd ever go out on NYE now. I like the pubs from January to easter when everyones blew all their cash and can't afford to go out , then you can get served no bother and go for a wazz without having to do some sort of assualt course on the way!

Congrats and have fun. Lived in Bath for a while and always enjoyed going out there.
-
Two young kids that love waking early in the morning and the grandparents are out of the country so cannot fire them off to them. Therefore family night in and sensible bed time. Not before I finish this bottle of champagne though :drinking:
Have a good one everybody and stay safe

It's nice to hear I'm not the only grumpy old bugger at NYE!
For me it's a symptom of having young children. I love them dearly, but they sap the life out of you. They're up at 6.30am every morning and NYE isn't going to change that.
I'm ready to go back to work. A holiday with children isn't really a holiday - I feel more harassed than ever.

I can sympathise with that! Our wee one has us up at 5.45!!

Try having two man, honestly it's bloody hard work.

Can you not crush sleeping tablets into their cocoa?

Can you not crush sleeping tablets into their cocoa?
My mother (who is a doctor) suggested giving them champagne. I thought about it for a while them decided that it might just make them all lairy and pissed, which wouldn't be enjoyable at all. And besides, one is 10 months and the other (the real crux of the problem) is nearly 4 years old.

Cheers Nathan. I'm clinging on to the hope that when the boy goes to school in September things will change. At the moment he has way too much energy. He's running circles round me.
