Title: R32 Price - Too good to be true? UPDATE
Post by: Mr Savage on January 05, 2013, 10:09:26 pm
Hello all,

I'm not entirely sure on the forums rules regarding linking third party websites on here so i'll past the spec in here, their were no pictures posted but the price seems too good to be true.

5 Doors, Automatic, Hatchback, Petrol, 35,000 miles, Metallic Black, MOT-01-2014, 1 Owner. Metallic Paint, Adjustable seats, Adjustable steering column/wheel, Anti theft system, Body kit, CD Multichanger, Central locking, Child locks, Climate Control, Computer, Reverse parking aid, Cruise control, Driver airbag, DVD, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Foglights, Front armrest, Heated seats, Leather seats, Leather upholstery, Multi function steering wheel, Navigation system, Park distance control, Power assisted steering, Remote locking, Sideskirts, Spoiler, Front fog lights, Leather seat trim, ABS, Air conditioning, Alloy wheels, Headlight washers, Folding rear seats, Lumbar support, Immobiliser, Passenger airbag, Rear armrest, Radio/CD, Rear headrests, Sports seats, Side airbags, Traction control, Alarm, Electric door mirrors, Front electric windows, Front head restraints, Heated door mirrors, Height adjustable drivers seat, Isofix child seat anchor points, PAS, Rear electric windows, Remote central locking, Trip computer, 3x3 point rear seat belts, Audio remote control. NEW SHAPE. HPI CLEAR. MEGA SPEC. 1 OWNER FROM NEW. HEATED VW R32 SPORTS BLACK LEATHER, SAT NAV, ALLOYS AND MANY MORE EXTRAS. ONLY 35,000 MILES. BEST COLOUR COMBINATION BLACK WITH FULL BLACK LEATHER

They're asking for £9995 and it's on an 06 plate which I believe put's it in the lower tax bracket? Ticks every box for me what should I be weary of on these when checking it over? Is this a normal price for this kind of spec?

Cheers,

Could still be the higher rate tax!

Indeed, get the reg number and find out what date it was registered. Needs to be before 23rd March 2006.

Seems a fair price to me, wisebuyers guide gives these valuations http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/index.jsp?guide=prices&page=used_cars&no=3&make=Volkswagen&model=Golf+%282004-09%29&vip=27342&yearplate=2006%2F06&mileage=35&x=41&y=2 (although I do find their valuations slightly on the high side.)

One owner and fuel costs  would probably explain the low miles, given the decent spec probably bought privately from new and cherished.

If it's that cheap, then surely it makes up for paying a little more tax each year?

Why are you that worried about it?

It's around £200 a year, £20 a month.

If your thinking of running a R32 this shouldn't be putting you off lol

Are you sure?, I think you will find its £475 against £270 for a pre April 2006 car

No I'm not that worried about it. It's only £20 a month if you put it that way yes but still a big sting at the end of each year. It's no big deal just a shame because it would have been perfect otherwise. Still taking a look at it though, just makes it a bit pointless going for a 7 year old one when the tax on a 2009 one will be the same but I guess the car itself will be a higher price anyway.

I think dan b was making the point it's an extra 200 a year ie an extra 20 a month.

Sorry for bumping my own post but I just checked the car's reg plate and it's manual according to the insurance companies so we'll have to see,  :signLOL:

Anyway slightly off topic but in my massive search I stumbled across this one on ebay which I thought looked very tidy. There's something with it that screams out to my immature side and seems cool. What do you guys make of it? Yes I know the tax band is the higher one, I just thought it looked quite unique.

A lot of good points, especially the brake upgrade and BBS CK's. If you like that colour scheme, go for it. Good history and mileage is spot on.

Yeah the grill looks a bit terrible doesn't it? Haha. It looks like a GT TDI. Easily changed though!

It could be improved, but to be honest I prefer it to the chrome one. There was a lad on here with a blue R32 ages ago that was perfectly colour-coded with a black grill. Can't remember his name though...

Haha :D I'm one of the GT TDI boys! So I have nothing against the grill! Just think it could use the R32 badge.

R32 badge in black, but with the joining bits on the back of the badge in red so the black 'R32' stands out.  :happy2:
