Title: Eye-level Hatch Brake Light
Post by: Mk5 GTian on January 14, 2013, 07:36:32 pm

Mine has gone very dim, and the first of the five cells has gone completely. I will put some pics up tomorrow, need someone to tread on the brake so I can take a piccy!

Any ideas why this is like this? Anyone else had this? Anyone know possible solutions?

Thanks,

Ian  :happy2:

do you mean the boot lid break light at the top?

if so i guess they just get old. I did see a diy of how to change them to a new unit. pretty sure the only one just clips out, il try and find the guide for you.

Here it is : http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=121067.0

Pretty common mate. It's f*cked! Take the old one out and throw it in the sea. There's a cracking guide on here about how to go about replacing it.

I'll have a go at that in the Spring then.Looks like warm fingers and rubber grommits are needed.

I'll probably royally f*ck it up though. I normally have to get someone in to change my calculator batteries!
