Title: Superpro ALK v Whiteline ALK
Post by: Mk5 GTian on January 15, 2013, 11:11:58 pm

Anyone had both on the same car?

If so which is best and why?

Also, do you reckon it's cheaper to pay to have WALK removed off my old car, and old bushes refitted, and then have that same WALk fitted on my current car, OR just buy an new WALK or SALK and fit that straight on new car, leaving the WALK on the old car?

For the additional labour involved and tracking needed I would just get the SALK and fit that straight on to the new car.

Great, That's what I was thinking Bacillus. Thanks, but why the SALK and not the WALK?

I'm sure I read that the bushes split on the WALK, so some people (VRSAlex IIRC) have swapped them for the superpro bushes which have been more reliable  :happy2:

The whiteline bushes are prone to cracking. The superpro use a much higher quality bush which is bonded to the outer console.   The inner bush has a metal case which stops the bush splitting.

Great, thanks guys, does anyone sell the SALK on here? Best to do it when I do the B12 kit and NQSBBK in April I guess.

I have experience of this.  My new S-ALK looks better quality/made

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works here.

APR and Harding Performance in Australia had redesigned this very SALK kit. Different poly bush rating and also includes an adjustable lower ball joint offering a 2 degree camber adjustment.

This is what I'm running in my mk5 GTI. Great piece of kit, Heck even going from the WALK to the SALK was a great improvement.

I cant comment on the salk but the walk i can. Walk was great when it was new but now 10 months on its fooked.

My car is currently at statllers being fully polybushed and steve rang me to tell me that there was play in the walk kit. To say they have only been on the car 10 months and this has happened is a joke. I have contacted the supplier who sold me the kit and he has told me he will email them as he has not heard anything kike this before. I was sure that i had heard things like this happening before and now this thread has confirmed it.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of warranty with these or is it a case of not being able to warrant something like this because of wear and tear. Tbh it is an upgraded part so i would expect it to last longer than has done.

Right, thanks guys! SALK it is then!

I'm in touch with Alex, and it's cheaper than WALK as well.

what are the results?

very promising thus far, but i also had Apex lowering springs (by 15mm) also, so haven't really had a chance as such to thoroughly test car! However, the car does feel a lot stiffer, that's for sure! When i go over Sheffield's SH*T rods, my undercarriage doesn't sound and feel like it's going to drop off now!!  :fighting:

So yes, i believe this has been a worthwhile mod, and at a very competitive price no doubt!!

....Well, at least you know you are in very good hands at Statller. I reckon they'll hopefully either be SuperPro or PolyBush - Both very good.

if they were supplied by statller they will more than likely be polybush as thats what i am having fitted.

Yeap, just this minute heard that they are Polybush! The fact that my clutch slips now when i plant my right foot (in low revs) in 5th and 6th tells me just how much more it's sticking to the road now!! Feels like i've found a quid and then lost 50p, although if/when i replace said clutch i will be losing a damned sight more than 50p!!??  :sad1:

Mind me asking the supplier cause I reported mine to my supplier and a new pair of bushes was around 70 quid (PM if you want)
