Title: Trailer licence
Post by: Shabba168 on January 28, 2013, 10:17:18 pm
Start my 3 day intensive course tomorrow with test on last day.

Anybody done theirs?

I have towed trailers for years on the farm and the yard just changing my ways and driving as the instructor wants.

:laugh:i'm almost old enough to have got given a license straight after the war

not really I'm 47 but I knew an old woman that had never been above third gear or in reverse and also never been out of the village and she held a full UK license as they were issued to anyone who had driven straight after the war

history lesson over  :jumping:

I've done mine, I'm 23

It's no problem at all, mine was no where near as hard or picky as a car test. You can already drive, it's the trailer part and etiquette they are looking at most so it's a lot more relaxed than I remember my car test being

Seeing as your already used to driving/reversing with a trailer I would say a 3 day course will be more than enough. I had 2 half days then my test

Best of luck :happy2:

Passed this today.

It's not as hard as driving test but after driving for 9 years hard to get rid of bad habits.

Did mine in the summer, only had 4 hours of lessons then my test, its much easier than proper driving test as they are just looking at your ability drive safely with a trailer on.

What I dont understand though is that I did my tractor test at the age of 16, which then allowed me to drive a tractor and trailer grossing off at up to 23.94t, but still have to take a test to put a small trailer behind a Land Rover.... methinks there needs to be some re-thinking on the whole licence thing...
