Sh*t a brick, £910k repair bill. :signLOL:
-
Hope he had protected no claims
-
Cant see why they paid that, when they should have said 'beyond economical repair'!
Fish

Yeah but then they would have to oay him what its worth today, and that is 3.5million! Seems the 910k was the cheap option!
Hard to see how it was even repairable.
-
You ever seen a race car crash they fix em and its such a rare car they had no choice but to repair it
-
I know it was obviously repairable but its hard to know where to start, the engine and rear axle were ripped clean out ffs! :signLOL:
-
I think it will polish out. I want to phone up an insurance company pretend to be Rowan and see what a quote is with a £1 million previous accident.

Do you think that's a record for the quickest engine removal!!!!
And a distance of 20 yards the engine landed!!!
Mr Bean is lucky still to be with us looking at those pictures! :surprised:
-
I wonder what his excuse was, i mean he was obviously doing the speed limit, 6.1 V12's are commonly known for being light and travel some distance in a crash!
-
Will that now be a Cat D write off.... and not worth 3.5mil anymore?
-
I remember the crash in 2011, had no idea the claim was still outstanding.
And some of the kids complain on here of their £2k insurance renewals!!' :signLOL:
-

I was thinking this as its the 2nd prang he's had in it, the HPI check would make interesting reading.
Saying that its been repaired by Maclaren themselves, I think the article said its been there for 16months, so it's probably been completely rebuilt, especially if you think the car originally cost ~£600k and the claim was for £910k
-
Hats off to Rowan though for using a car rather than leaving it parked up. :congrats:

+1
There are so many cars like this just parked up in a 'collectors' garage not being used for the purpose they were built for!

And obviously using it 'properly' too :driver:

Didn't he bin this same motor years back!?

Yeah think he rear ended someone
-
i'm just surprised he's worth that much money. aside from the god-awful Jonny English movies he's done recently he's not really been up to much has he? don't get me wrong i loved Blackadder and thing it's hilarious, but back then i didn't think you were paid obscene amounts of money for TV shows, even ones as successful as Bean and Blackadder

I wonder what loan Car they give him whilst being repaired

Has to be the MP4 12C :happy2:

Nope, it has been repaired by the insurance company not written off by them :happy2:

The bean movies did well and I think bean is exported to a lot of countries.
-
I think he has his own production company, or a share in one, i think it called Tiger aspect, I may be wrong,
Now that the car is to be rebuilt, perhaps he could choose a different colour for the respay, anything but that hideous shade of red that it's got at the moment.
-
It's done and finished. He drove it Yesterday.
-
Rowan Atkinson has made around £4.5 million from the sale from Tiger Aspect, the independent production house, best known for Mr Bean, The Vicar of Dibley and The Catherine Tate Show, of which he is a director.
and there you have it
-
It's not the only F1 to have been damaged and repaired (see "flemke" on Pistonheads) but I doubt that the repair will have any bearing on the future value.
Realistically, its not even a "repair" as such, more like a re-manufacture by the original dudes who built it in the first place.
:rolleye:
-
Says in the sun he is worth £70+ million
-
60k renewal ! Should of protected his no claims bonus for 20 quid a year like me !
-

Yeah think he rear ended someone
Well at least he's had a new front and rear end now!! :signLOL:
-
ive had the same brush for 25 years.... its had 7 new head and 5 new handles!!
-
Was reading about this today - there's an article in 'Classic & Sports car' mag. I picked it up just to read about this, as I thought the car was beyond repair when I read about the crash a few years ago.
That's a massive insurance claim for sure! Given the price of an F1 though, I can sort of see why it was repaired vs. a total loss payout.
Some pretty major work happened - the tub is still original, but the car has a new floor. It says all the running gear, brakes, and suspension was subjected to stress tests and crack detection to in McLaren's F1 workshops.
Fair play to Rowan for using it, though. 38k on the clock!
-
Everyone's premium will increase as a result of this.

Why?
-
Well, they have to recoup the money from somewhere?
-
Only one insurance company would have insured him. I think maybe high end cars might see a little bump up.

 Alright, Dave.
+1 kudos for driving the machine.

Hero :drinking:

Wonder how much of the original car was left after McLaren "repaired" it. He's probably got a brand new car just with the old seats and dashboard refitted!
