Title: Car SOS TV show
Post by: Mk5 GTian on February 09, 2013, 04:44:02 pm

Anyone seen this? It's on National Geographic HD.

Really heartwarming show for us petrol-heads. They find someone who has bought a classic, but life has bowled them a few googlies and the car ends up rotting in a barn or garage.

The guys come and sneak the car away, and restore it to concours condition, then create a situation to give it back. I loved the first episode where a chap lost his wife to cancer, and then nearly died in a car crash when his new Mrs crashed his Beemer. He can't work now due to his injuries. His Fiat 850 spyder was restored beautifully, and it was presented to him as a classic car he'd won for the weekend with a spa holiday, but then realises it's HIS car!. Very touching, well worth a watch.

It's very much like DIY SOS for cars. I also thought it was quite heartwarming too and Tim Shaw came across much, much better than he used to on 5th Gear. Interesting to see ex-PWEI drummer and bus-mental Fuzz Townshend too.

It is American, but still sounds like the premise of the show is the same!

You're correct it is the same premise but in a much lower key / British way and Tim Shaw is no Chip Foose

Awesome car the Cosworth, nearly bought a moonstone blue one back in the 90's, massive regret that I didn't albeit I got another motoring legend in the form of a Clio Willams 1.

Great watch  :happy2:

Is it me or has every car so far had a little engine 'problem' whilst delivering/unveiling?  :chicken:

Other than that I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far!  :happy2:
