Title: Tapatalk 2
Post by: Nodz on February 10, 2013, 07:58:30 am
Jut had a notification pop on tapatalk saying version 2 is out. Has anyone bothered paying the £2.49 they want for the app? If so what is it like compared the original? Annoyingly the yanks can get it for $0.99

Here's the link for more info

Me too lol.

It's good, takes a bit of getting used to as it uses swipe gestures like Facebook. It's good but there is no way to theme it as of yet!

.
Hopefully, the Tapatalk latest version gives the user the option NOT to sign off every post with words like "Sent from Tapatalk on my iPhone". This is an irritation when quoting a post in a forum reply as it needs stripping out.

Sent from my 27" all-singing-dancing desktop Mac   :P

It always has been an option in Tapatalk, I'm using it to post this.

The beauty of the app for me is that it strips out massive signatures too.

So that suggests that you don't see any posted images on Tapatalk. That's not very clever - An iPhone screen is surely big enough.

Any images that are in a post and avatars you can see. You don't see any sig pics or the forum header or background etc.

the reason for this is to remove a lot of the data heavy content (mainly images), which in turn reduces the amount of data used so your monthly data allowance isn't dented to much and in turn makes the pages load quicker

No I don't see signatures only.
Avaters are tiny and pictures are thumbnails until clicked on, it s a brilliant app.

Like Nodz wrote, it reduces overheads.

Never used Tapatalk, is it worth using? What benefits are there over using my PC or ipad to just log in to the forum and post?

.... x 2

I don't have an iPhone but sometimes use an iPad when I'm not in front of my desktop.

Apple's Safari browser is very fiddly on the iPad even with a good stylus pen (Maglus). So what are the advantages of Tapatalk on iPad, please?

I don't use my iPad enough for forums to justify paying for Tapatalk if it's not free.

It's mainly designed for people with mobile data packages on the iPad and iPhone, if you haven't got to worry about data limits and only use wifi there isn't much point to having it.

I only got it for my iPhone as I was going over my data allowance on my tariff every month. Since getting the App I hardly ever go over. Since getting it tho I always use it when I'm on my phone now as I find it better to use than a browser as the text comes up at a decent size and I don't need to zoom in etc (obviously not a problem with an iPad).

The only downsides I can think of is that you have to remember the codes for the emoticons and multi quoting or snipping quotes can be a pain.

I have to say I rarely browse the site on a web browser. So used to using tapatalk!
Plus I am on a few forums that support tapatalk so easy to switch between them
