Hey up guys, just been using the search bar for more info on Cam Follower, was going to get it done at Statllers next week, but a lot of people say its quite easy to change.....is this the case.
Some people say its hard on an 05 or 55 plate (something to do with a Banjo Clip) and some people say harder with DSG? any of this true?
So.....Worth doing my self, im quite handy with stuff like this...but cant be arsed with it going wrong?
Also, i found a part number, looked like a revsion C, is that the latest one or is there a newer part number.....please leave below if you know it..
Cheers guys.

What year is your car?
If earlier than an 07 I would let Statllers do it as you'll most likely have a banjo bolt to contend with.
btw having dsg doesn't make the job harder.
-
C is the latest revision.

Part number is 06D 109 309 C. There is a very useful section now filling up with part numbers on here and an equally helpful "How to" guide thread. These are from there, so don't thank me....

Which reminds me, I've got about 50 P/N's to dump there....... :nerd:

Its a 55 plate, does the Banjo really make it that much harder....thinking that £50 could go towards my remap

See that look piss easy, but one guy on here messed it up bad. Engine fluid was pissing out every where when he started the ignition. Even though he believed he had every lined back up perfect .....Hummmm....tough choice on what to do.
Any videos changing Cam Follower with the Banjo clip?

For the banjo bolt you firstly need the correct tool to use in the confined space and are likely to drop something. If you feel adventurous then give it a go but what happens if you're stuck?
btw that link for doing the job isn't for a car with a banjo bolt.

Doesnt say if it an 54 - 55 plated thought, can see any extra instruction about the banjo clip.

Its really easy to do. If your worried about dropping a bolt, make sure you place a large cloth under the area your working on. Its a 10 minute job tops. Best done on a cold engine though.
What could possibly go wrong?

That is for the earlier cars, he removes the banjo bolt with the m8 spline taped to the spanner.
The later cars have a rubber pipe to remove instead.

Mine is a 55 plate with Banjo bolt. Could not do it myself as you need the correct torx to undo and they are really hard to find, cost of purchasing would be better spent getting an independent dealer to do it for you.I got mine done at AKS tuning for £30 notes. Thanks again Alex :happy2:

M8 spline bit needed to undo the banjo bolt, wrap it in some tape and put it in a ratchet spanner, the tape will stop it falling out. As said, 10-15 minute job. :happy2:

I bought this set http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spline-bit-set-/261168338112?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3cced894c0
It has the m8 splined bit needed for removing the banjo bolt.
I was £8 from my local autoparts store.

So have you managed to change it?
I found that I did not have enough room to get under and undo it with my ratchet?

Not yet. I have had my APR pump and new cam follower for a few weeks now but been too busy with work to be able to get time to do it.
I'm planning to use a bit of tape on the splined bit and use a ratchet spanner for removing the bolt.

That should work :happy2: Replaced mine after 68k and to be honest it did not need changing :happy2:
