I'll do it at the meet for you if you like.

I will be buying some of this Lamin X stuff as well. I was going to order from the States as it is pre-cut.

What can this volksdevil dude offer then? Am i right in saying that he is the guy that runs the UK importer of it - lamin-x.co.uk? He owns the Corrado? Surely the fitted sheet would be better?

Like to see what this stuff looks like - quite a light tint though, something we'd notice but not to obvious to jo public for obvious reasons.

Just ordered it from the US!

I chose the US because they were pre-cut to the headlight shape, and also came with pre-cut film for the foglights too.

Shipping only came to $9.99!

Total $59.98!

Will post pics up once its fitted!

P.S.

I went for the 'tint'.

Had a chat with one of the guys on the S3 forum, who has a Ibis White S3 with this film on, and it looked absolutely superb. Anything above 'tint' and its just too dark for road use for the front headlights. The 'tint' does look pretty dark in some lights too, so I think I'll be happy!

Depending on how easy the application / quality of the product is, I think I'll also buy some for the rear lights - I think its an easy and cheap way to achieve the tint similar to the R32 rears!!

Nope

Why... where you thinking that it would melt the film maybe?

Peeps on the S3 forum seem to have no problems, and I think they come standard with xenons..

Nope

well, not sure what it would do to the beam quality and maybe the heat too, although normal lights get hot too

Yeah good point really.

I guess you can only go on feedback from other who have tried it. I think theres a link on gti.co.uk to the topic on the S3 forum. I can find it for you if you want?

I upgraded my bulbs to some 80W ones, so hopefully it should be ok.

They do state that the film still allows 90% of light through, so I look forward to seeing whether thats just clever marketing, or the truth!!

Did you get the pre-cut stuff or the cut yourself sheet Joe. I've got a pre-cut kit ready to go on the S3, but after reading the destructions its seems the temperature needs to be a bit higher so hangin on till the cars in the garage which should be this weeken :happy2:

i did this and they went on fine, no bubbles or creases, the lights just need to be taken off the car to get the best results. the lamin x stuff is pritty thick (not like window tint) so its fairley easy to apply.

oh and incase anybody doesnt know..... you have to take your bumper off to take your lights out  :rolleye:

Yeah I'm waiting for warmer temperatures to do mine. Ordered the pre-cut stuff from the US and it took a while to get here, so I don't fancy f*cking it up just for being to eager in this cold weather !

Yeah, as Joe says..the instructions say to do that anyway to help the film bond onto the shape of the headlights.

It says don't apply in temperatures below 17 Degrees. Considering that it was 5 Degrees here today, I didn't want to risk it!

They took about 4 weeks to arrive from the US, can't be bothered to wait that long, and also the ever-decreasing exchange rate situation doesn't make things better either!

Joe - your comment regarding that the exterior temperature doesn't matter....I'll take your word for it, considering you've already tried. So perhaps I wont wait until it gets to 17 degrees, but into double figures at least! From how you describe it, it just seems that the pitfall of yours was that they were not fitted to the shape of the headlight?
