Title: Oil filter socket – 32mm or 36mm?

Want to do an oil change but seem to be getting different answers via search. 2006 GTI, which size of socket do I need to purchase?

32mm or 36mm?

I can check when I get home but I'm 99% sure it's 36mm

My 07 BWJ engine requires a 36mm socket  :happy2:

I've just bought a 32mm for my 55 plate gti.

I have a 36mm also so should be able to change the filter either way now!

Do you have the filter casing drain tool though!?? :confused:

Good luck with the change I'm going to do mine this weekend now I ave the tools.....

You don't NEED the drain tool. It's just makes the draining a little cleaner. I recently done a change on an 07 Gti and didn't spill a drop.
