Hi. can anybody advise where i can get an original MK5 rear tailgate handle mechanism/badge for an 05 golf gti! Need the slow close mechanism unit (unlike new units which snap closed) because mine has the aweful white worm  :evilgrin: thanx

These are becoming rare. eBay is your best bet. Not sure why you dont want a new style one as they look much better  :ashamed: & a old style one will only white worm in time  :scared:

You may as well get the newer 3D style to prevent white worm from returning :happy2:

Actually... Speak to brookesb32. He should be able to create a 3D slow closing badge!  :happy2:

Just get a 3D Mk5 one, you'll find it hard to find an early one without white worm, better still, get a Mk6 one, they look a lot better and fit a peach. There are LOADS of white worm one on eBay and 3D ones and a few Mk6 ones. Range in price from £20-£70.

+1 Keep an eye on the for sale section. He is always modifying badges. He recently got an old slow closer and put a mark 6 badge on it. The best of both worlds!  :happy2:

The mk5 3D close ones are indeed rare - I have worked out that after 06 they no longer slow closed (like the 07 one I have in the for sale section).

I recently did another 3D custom slow close unit - which I'm sure the forum member will show everyone once it arrives and is fitted.

I have another whitewormed mechanism I am working on an have a 3D I hope to fit to it - either on silver or wrapped - so ill give you a pm when I have done it  :happy2:
