Title: strange juddery feel when on idle
Post by: northyracing on March 02, 2013, 09:28:44 pm
Right I changed m pcv today also took dv out and clean and checked it its perfectly fine as I only replace a month or so ago car starts and runs fine cold then when warm you can feel a slight judder on idle but rpm needle does not even move, when Drivin it's perfect can now feel the pcv was naffed as it goes like f#*k , i unplugged the MAF too and drive a couple of miles but car runs the same as when MAF is plugged in any one had any similar problems

Had a similar problem on my car. Took the throttle body out, gave it a good clean and it's been fine ever since.

Is the throttle body easy enough to get to and clean

Yeah fairly easy job. Located directly underneath the air filter.

Loads of different chemicals you can use, but plain old carb cleaner will do  :happy2:

Not helpful I'm afraid... I too get this on occassion, there are no misfires reported in VCDS, although it feels just like one.

should the car run and drive rough with the MAF unplugged as i did this and it drive just the same sort of smooth with the juddery feel

I also get this, it's only very occasional and goes as quick as it comes. Was going to get my pcv looked at sometime this week. But if your getting it and have already had yours changed then that probably counts that one out.

Only thing I can think is maybe the MAF sensor knackered

What's the Pcv ?

positive crankcase ventilation

age old system to reduce emissions... can make combustion mixture lean, but ECU witchcraft probably sorts it out

Sat in my car earlier and felt the judder again and have noticed not just on idle I held the rpm at about 1500 and also 2000 and it has a slight misfire it's worse at lower revs so could it actually be the MAF
