I presume you have the lowline cluster then? Do you know what the last 4 digits of your clocks are... Should be like 961 B
-
They are 951 g I believe?
-
At least you have some idea of your unit. Your best bet is to talk to someone in the 'know' I would advise giving Eddie-NL a PM, with your current information. He should be able to guide you in the right direction! :happy2:
-
You have lowline, even midline is an upgrade, so 96x clocks.
I'd get highline ones since you're going through the effort. You'll need a new steering control module to get trip functions, from memory and an MFA+ stalk (wiper stalk with rocker button) or multifunction wheel to flick through menu's.
The plus side is you can DIY this very cheaply.
-
But can you recode a second hand dash cluster?
-
I already have cruise control so will I already have the correct steering control module?
Even if I source all these parts I still have nobody to code it all :(
-
If you have cruise your module will be ok, ideally you want 971 or 972 clocks (970 if that's all you find) and diesel versions, and the wiper stalk I mentioned.
973/974 clocks can be used but you can't recode these in the same way, only a few people have the ability to do them.
You can cheaply DIY using this guide http://furmanka.blogspot.co.uk/2008/02/mk5-mfd-plus-hi-line-cluster.html
-
yes 2nd hand modules can be coded as long as you can extract the SKC from it.
Earlier models can easily done if you have the correct tools, or if its a 973/974 clocks as mentioned earlier, then Eddie_NL or Kalu can do them for you.
-
Ok great so could Eddie or Kalu please get in touch with me I need this sorted cheers for your help guys
-

Hi you all.
I have a big problem and it seems i cant solve it myself.
A few weeks ago i swapped my old cluster with one with MFD. Everything went well.
After ... I had some problems and i had to mess a little with the wiring under the steering wheel. I then noticed that my fuel gauge does not work and the outside temperature was showing way wrong ( - 45 C) so i thought the cluster was wrecked and i fitted my old, boring one back. The boring one worked until today when the same problem appeared.
I hope not both clusters are f.ked and i found this topic

Could anyone help please ....

Hello everybody,
I know this thread is few years old, but i will give it a try...
I have mk5 1.9tdi, 10/2004, I have lowline cluster: 1K0 920 851 HX , and without any knowledge I bought this cluster: 1K0 920 873B produced on 24.6.2006. , with big display. Is this highline cluster, I am not even sure after so much reading.
For last few days I have been browsing this forum and everybody mention clusters finishing on 97x, but I havent found any cluster with 97x?
Now, can anybody tell me is it possible to put this cluster that I have into my car?
I have VCDS 12.12 and VAG COM PRO 5.5.1.
I have pin from my cluster but I dont have pin from new cluster. Is there any way to obtain it?
Next
I have bought MFSW, with new buttons. I have slipring with no C on the end. If I buy corresponding steering wheel control module, will I be able to code it?
I would really appreciate any help.

As above Eddie NL would be able to sort you out if you can get to him. Message him via eBay as I’m not sure how often he’s on here now.
