Title: Key Fob problem

Folks

Just this morning my key fob failed to open my doors - nothing happening when i push it. I can lock the doors and open the boot luckily enough but what do i need to fix this?

Is it a case of my key fob being broken inside at the open door button? Can i open the door with my key or will this set the alarm off?

Any advice?

A new battery may help
Door lock motors maybe on there way out
Get the car scanned on VCDS to be sure

I had a remote die on me once, even though the red LED worked and it had a good battery (tested with measuring blocks in VCDS).

First step would be to change the battery, but apparently you have to have the old one out and new one in very quickly (less than a minute?).
If that doesn't work then try resync the key to your CCM (can be done quickly in VCDS or there's a manual procedure somewhere).

If none of that works then you can pull the remote apart, get the part number of your remote and even replace it with a used one, then resync it  :happy2:

You can still use your key at the minute, but after manually opening the door, put the blade in the ignition to prevent the alarm going off.

I changed the battery on my dead keyfob the other day, I cannot say that it took me very long but was not aware of a time period and needing to do it quickly.

I suspect it is just the battery. You need a CR2032 to replace the old one.
