Hey up guys,
Just a quicky. Engine on or off, every 30 seconds or so i get these little knocking noises from behind glove box. Is it some thing to do with air circulation or something
As it happens even if the engine is off, key just turned to 1 (electrics on)
Any ideas? Thanks

Probably the heater control flap motor, really f'ing annoying

It's all the little flaps for the climate control. Had to change one of the recirculation motors at the weekend as the knocking noise was getting louder & louder!

got a part number mate, and also, dont know it has always done this or just recently, if i put the feet blower on , half the air still come out the top windscreen vent :stupid:
Is that maybe because of a broke vent / motor u think?

Is the noise normal? I get a sort if flapping ticking sound from time to time too.

Ive had this flapping noise from new, 2005, doesnt affect performance, etc, but yes, would love to get rid of it!

I've just developed this as well.
Would this be something that would be covered on warranty?

also got this on my gti...anoying as hell...

Behind the glovebox there are two flaps that move when you press the recirculate button, the motor I've had to change is at the front. The part number is 1K2 907 511G. I can't say how much they are from VW as the parts department wouldn't answer the phone when I rang so I found a brand new motor on eBay for £50 :happy2:
My car has always made various strange noises as the flaps and motors move to keep the temperature at whatever its set to which you normally can't hear over the radio, but the last few months every time I selected recirculate or reverse (automatically switches to recirculate), I would get a knocking noise. Eventually it started happening all the time which I traced to the above motor. I opened it up to find the plastic cogs inside had broken so it was 'jumping' instead of turning.
With my blower set to feet I still have a bit of air coming out onto the windscreen

My old car only had climatic and not climatronic, so was easier to diagnose in my case as it was manually controlled.
The yellow elbow joint on the control flap motor had come off, so it was stuck blowing cold air as the vent was shut.
I replaced it but noticed as the elbow moves, it can pull the whole mechanism together as it was only screwed at the top of the body, not the bottom too. I think this adds to jerkiness and clicking noise.
My ED30 does it as does our Altea, just poor design really.
