Hey Guys
New owner of a 06 MK5 Golf GTi in Steel Grey.
I have been a Honda Vtec junky for the past couple of years, had no issues with any of my Honda's but i have owned a Lupo GTi before aswell.
I wanted to know how do the MK5 Golf GTi's compare to the reliabilty of Honda Vtec's?
Are thier any commen faults i need to look out for and get them repaired before they get any worse, any electrical, machanical, external/internal issues i need to be aware of?
Thank you! :happy2:

Hello and welcome.
Where in the NE are you?

They aren't as reliable as a good old vtec :sad1: - I doubt any turbo car is due to all the ancilliarys.
Cam follower ought to be checked and replaced if you have 60k+ miles as this is a weak point that can fail (only costs about £30).
There's a few other faults (less serious) that can fail: -PCV, coil packs

My car has done 52k, isit worth getting the Cam Follower changed early?
