Hi,
Just had a full service on my GTi before sale, the only thing wrong is a split in the gearbox steady bar, quoted £76.83 and 3 hours labour to fit a new one. I can't find details about this anywhere. Does this sound right?
Thanks,
Aled.

I'm guessing this is the dogbone mount. 3hrs labour sounds like a pisstake to me?
-
depends what bit is the problem, could buy and fit yourself... simple enough
-
It took me 10mins to remove the Dogbone mount, install a powerflex insert and refit the mount.

Thats just to fit an insert though. Not replace the rubbers!

Sounds about right for the parts at retail. I would have it done in an hour though all being well.

If its this one we're talking about you can pick it up from GSF for less than £20

Shouldn't be to bad to fit.

Sounds like the op means the bush in the subframe.

Thanks guys,
I have had a look underneath my self, I may need to put it on a ramp but can't see anything, even the mount looks fine tbh. Will maybe speak to the garage so they can point out what they are seeing. The note on the service sheet specifically states the bar though!

Top and bottom pic of the rubber mount in the subframe shows that the rubber is badly split. Look closely at the two rubber bars.
