Title: Gearbox steady bar

Just had a full service on my GTi before sale, the only thing wrong is a split in the gearbox steady bar, quoted £76.83 and 3 hours labour to fit a new one. I can't find details about this anywhere. Does this sound right?

Thats just to fit an insert though. Not replace the rubbers!

Sounds about right for the parts at retail. I would have it done in an hour though all being well.

Shouldn't be to bad to fit.

I have had a look underneath my self, I may need to put it on a ramp but can't see anything, even the mount looks fine tbh. Will maybe speak to the garage so they can point out what they are seeing. The note on the service sheet specifically states the bar though!

Post by: vRSAlex on March 24, 2013, 07:52:31 pm: Top and bottom pic of the rubber mount in the subframe shows that the rubber is badly split. Look closely at the two rubber bars.
