Title: What's this called?

Tried loading photo, can't do it  :ashamed:

Need to clarify what the part is that sits on the driver side as part of the air intake and has a plug that can be pulled in/out and held in place by 2 torx screws.

Been told its air flow sensor as this is what showed up on vag com as why the little engine light came on. But I'm sure I heard it called something else MAF?

Doing a 500 mile trip end of week so would like to get it sorted.

Will take a look at this. Just wondering If its playing up what difference will it make when replaced?
