So how ws the drive home?
Title: Re: AKS tuning
Post by: Jussa on April 09, 2013, 12:05:58 pm
The drive home was great.
The only issue I've discovered now is because the water/meth makes the mid range awesome and doesn't lose power high up the rev range my DSG map is incorrect.  I just emailed Regal now to get hold of GIAC to tweak it.  In manual mode she changes up by herself before the limiter and even before 7000rpm   you really feel the difference now as she just wants to keep on pulling, where as before it didn't bother me.  My 0-60 time should be better as well once this is sorted.  :jumpmove:

What an absolute mission for the fitting yesterday 8am till 10pm.  Alex did warn me though, but I needed my car so couldn't leave it with him.

Alex was brilliant, and his quality of work is 2nd to none!!,   :drinking: :congrats: :drinking:

Doesnt the GIAC DSG map remove the auto shifter like the REVO one does?

This is what Alex said as well, at least to the rev limiter  :sad1:
Title: Re: AKS tuning
Post by: rich83 on April 09, 2013, 12:57:57 pm
Well it should do... on mine you can sit in 2nd gear and hit the RPM limiter and it wont change gear. Whats what the GIAC one should do too, if it doesnt then  :surprised:
Title: Re: AKS tuning
Post by: Jussa on April 09, 2013, 01:05:44 pm
Exactly, that's why I've told Regal Autosport to speak to GIAC, so hopefully it will be sorted quickly.  Does yours get to 60 in 2nd??

GIAC have two options for their stage 2 maps and one allows gearing up at the redline in manual and the other doesn't. You've obviously got the one that does. I opted for gearing up automatically to be left in mine as I specified a shift point of 7450 rpm's and I really don't want it to hit the rev limiter and sit there at that rpm. I always shift before this though unless specifically doing a 0-60 run.

Without meth I ran B8 T6 F5 and with meth I run B9 T7 F7 with lambda reading 0.8 ( AFR 11.76 ) to redline.

I run fuel 9 stage2+ revo without meth. I find it doesnt pull timing compare to 5-6 that i had it on before.

afr is around 12.

You guys got me thinking to turn it back to how it was i.e 5-6.

Hi Dave, to be honest I average normally 4 secs flat, but have done a 3.88 without the meth.
The Meth definitely gives a serious amount of extra midrange, so u don't really feel it in 1st and 2nd that much.
When I get the DSG map sorted I should get better than the 3.88  :jumpmove:
I want to try her now on the quarter mile.  What I can say now though is that the overrun in the higher gears is epic, major backfiring and rumbling  :signLOL: not sure but it must be something to do with the meth????

Jussa, am I right in thinking the 8P2 S3 uses the same gearbox as the Golf R which is different to a normal Mk5 GTI/ED30?
