Title: could you map in pops and bangs
Post by: flatout on April 10, 2013, 07:59:20 pm
Just wondered if you could map some pops, bangs, flames etc into an ed30,been new to the vag seen coming from jap where people had evos with custom maps with random pops and bangs on standard ecu,not 100% how to to this maybe add fuel on over run..

im not after full on anti lag but a few pops would be nice,my cars stage 2 at the min soon to be stage 2+.

could somebody like r tech do this???

My 200sx pops and bangs its head off, they're not mapped in.

Just a Turbo back 3" exhaust a bar of boost and no DV / recirc valve makes for fun times :)

Lots of fuel along the zero load sites and no ignition advance is the way it's done, this way as you lift off throttle it cuts all ignition and Unburnt fuel enters the exhaust.

Never had anyone request this on a 'proper' car, usually left for the Clio/corsa/imprezza brigade.

Nick has tried dumping fuel on overrun but that didn't work. James car was the guinea pig

The focus ST has the same ECU to the mk5 and that pops and bangs for fun. Think Nick needs to have another go

Possibly on Saint Steves tomorrow  :signLOL:

I am not sure on the bangs but my last Exige sounded lovely on lift off with 2bular zorst nice gargling sound and the occasional pop, it could only be really heared inside the car. The same exhaust won't do it on my new one.   :sad1:

The over run noises on the Focus RS mk2 are induced as part of the mapping as standard.

I miss this from my R56 Cooper S. The pops and bangs definitely make it more of a laugh. Most modern turbo lumps pop and bang on the overrun so I don't think it's chavy.

have to say though dave that an impreza is a proper car, just not to everyones tastes

My R53 cooper S used to pop and bang on overrun, I was told this was down to the mapping and used to cool the pistons as those engines run hot.

I will start working on a real hard cut limiter for the big kids out there....  Lol.. Give me a few weeks to read up on the full NMAX (engine speed) limiter routine...  A victims car maybe needed soon to test ;-)

cant see how having pops and bangs is chavy... :stupid: if anything having big exhaust with no pops and bangs is chavy....rally cars and super cars pop and bang....if I hear pop's on a corsa I think its fooked....pops on a car like a GTI, imprezza, evo and other's are expected id say

Best way to get pops and bangs is to install an anti lag system.

That wont make it pop and bang on over run though.....

Thats when anti lag works its best so it keeps the turbo spinning when the throttle is closed. If you hear an antilag car it does pop and bang on gear changes and when on overrun. Although they do damage the turbine so a rebuild or new turbo is required every few thousand miles or so.

Rick @ Unicorn Motor Developments can now do flat shifting and launch control on TFSI's, obviously manual only.

Would sound good though, he does it on all the S/RS4's he maps and flat shifting sounds sweet!
