I was looking to buy this ready for my return home.  for a track car and move my mods over.

How much do you think it would cost to put right?

cheers

I think it looks expensive already - up at £8k with a week to go. Not sure what it would cost to repair, but the heavy crease/fold in the rear quarter is what would put me off. If it's for a track car is there much benefit in paying a premium for an R, rather than modifying a cheaper standard GTI? You don't need a younger car or all the pretty R bits anyway!

yea was just a thought really.

Could strip the car and get good money for the parts and keep the running gear ect.

I will keep my eye on it.

Looks like the roof is damaged.  Good for stripping I would say.

I've seen worse cars on Copart. Looks like the chassis is straight, suspension undamaged and the engine bay looks untouched too. Not a bad car, but on Copart I reckon it will have another £3k go on that £8k.

I take it your not in the car industry anymore Oli.  :chicken: Have you not heard of the new rear wheel steering on the likes of the new GT3.  :driver:

Tbh I done more damage to an 02 plate Clio 1.2 16v worth around 6 k at time, sold it as is for 1400 guy had it back on the road within a few weeks and must have made a coin or wouldn't have done it was kinda gutted!!! Direct line void my claim as I modified it and didn't tell them paying for a car you don't own is a killer lol

ditto on sheffield roads, did two sets of top arms on my old Alfa 156 in 12 months commuting to work....

Mind you, it WAS an Alfa  :ashamed:

Best thing to do is go have a good look at the Golf R, chassis might be fine, just needs a new rear suspension setup and the panel work.

£22k to repair according to them..... but that would be at big bodyshop/main dealer prices.
2nd hand/aftermarket parts would bring the bill down but........
one for somebody in the trade or more likely to be parted out!

That Golf R is in better nick than the one GMP trashed on a "high speed test drive"
